    RIS feedback..

    I would simplify. Ditch the otter and munich. Switch the sugars to invert or just eliminate. Personally, a complex recipe makes it very difficult to trouble shoot. Hope this is useful.

    English yeast? Some just refuse to drop

    Making British invert syrup at home

    This is a link to the method I use. http://www.unholymess.com/blog/ Be aware if you use turbinado or other dark sugar you are starting with a fairly dark invert from the start and the price is quite a bit more. Using the black strap cheat is a good workaround when you get tired of stirring...

    Full vs partial boil

    Partial water boil can sometimes lead to a darker color and more concentrated flavor. It's usually not a huge difference, but a difference. I have gone to adding only 1/3 of my extract to the full water amount until the last 15 minutes with good results. The beginning extract helps hops...

    does anyone know where to get blank cardboard six pack holders printed?

    Throw, nice business card, and nice photo. As a designer, we are now expecting a new label design. I would prefer something with a stamped or poorly printed (comic/newspaper) look.

    Burnham's Courage Brewing

    A very professional, fifties, new wave, holga, old school feel. There is a bit of a book cover feel to them (in a good way). When do we get some pin hole camera photos?

    Screen-printing bottles

    I used to silk screen when I was a sign painter way back when, and we screened a couple of large cylinders once. It's a pain in the ass, but nice when it works. We started with a very slightly loose screen. Load the screen with just enough ink, not the usual big amounts of extra that is typical...

    What part of my brain...

    Steal from everywhere. If you truly have no talent, look at 'art brut', folk art, punk poster art, etc. It's grungie, no thought, in your face. If you almost have talent, look at 'fine art' and steal the composition. Artist have been doing that for centuries. If you are using a computer, do...

    Label Series Critique

    Very Nice. Maybe make the title a san sarif in white. I would also keep the "do" in the title. Move the date & abv to the right corner. I understand you are not trying to make that look like it is part of the glass, but my eye thinks it's part of the glass regardless. As for the descriptions; I...

    L'Bells!

    Nice hop label. For version one, make some of the black "splats" a series of lighter colors. That should give it depth and complexity. I do really like the small restrained font. Do another version where you thing you have gone too far, and then go a little further with it. It might get super...

    brewery logo inside...what do you think?

    I hate to admit it, but I had to laugh in a good way. I might make the red not so dark so it pops a bit more. Maybe add a fit bits of dripping and a little spatter. And I am glad to see you didn't go with old english gothic type.

    2 new labels

    the czech is a great label. Don't get too bent on the swipe; the "czech point" gives it context. Maybe have the little girl with a rifle swung over her back, or smoking a cigarette.

    Using Geletin and Bottling vs. Kegging

    I just started using geletin, and have had great sucess. I don't rack into secondary, just a primary for 2 weeks. About 3 days before bottling, I add the geletin, and gently sitr to distribute. I do kick up some yeast, but the geletin will take care of that. I also put the carboy in a large tub...

    unemployed=label making

    thanks for the feedback. The Guided By Voices thing is pretty close. Now I will have to make sure to not see their covers so I don't plagurize. I am going to try to make at least one new label a week, so you can follow the above link to follow, if you are that bored.

    unemployed=label making

    I have time on my hands, so I might as well put it to some use. It's not good use, but use all the same. I just put a few on to my flickr account. Tell me what you think. For full disclosure; the woman on the bed was cropped from the web. The rest is my collage...
