what beers for a black and tan

The one that Yuengling makes is awesome IMHO, I drink those all the time. Guinness and Bass is still the best combo though. And Black Castles rock. Might have to try the Smithwick's and Guinness some time.

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

Ok right now in my fermenter I have a recipe that I am trying to bring together. It consists of 2 cans of the Pale Ale, 1 can of golden wheat, centinnial hops that were boiled for 10 minutes and then colombus hops added to the wort just before the cold water and then a the mr. beer draft liquid...

I've been using seventh generation dish soap and one of those clothes that is meant for cleaning the screens on a flat screen tv's. Works pretty good for me.

    Hard Ice Tea

If you are doing an iced tea and you are going to sweeten it later then I would recommend a simple syrup or something along those lines. Regular sugar just won't dissolve, take it from a southern sweet tea addict that has had to live up north.

Why not, if you are the adventurous type. You got to try new things, even if the sound a little crazy.

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

So my stout is about to go into bottles so I went ahead an ordered some more ingredients for the next batch. I ordered 2 cans WCPA, 1 can Golden Wheat UME, Centennial and Colombus pellet hops, and liquid draft yeast. I am thinking of adding the Centennial pellets first right after the extracts...

    First Stout, mmmmmm.

I forgot to mention that I was going to let it carbonate for a couple of weeks, before sticking it in the fridge. So far I like letting the beer age in the fridge rather than in the closet after carbonation. And about the yeast, it was puffed up almost 2 inches when I opened it so I figured it...

Guinness Rocket Widget: Keep it or Ditch it?

I like Guinness and I like the bottles they use so I was thinking about using some for bottling my own stout, anyway my question is should I remove the rocket widget before reusing the bottles?

    First Stout, mmmmmm.

So I just got my first batch of stout going Sunday night, well actually 2am Monday morning. I used one of the Mr. Beer kits and played around with it some. I used 1 can of their St. Patrick's Irish stout HME, 1 can of their creamy brown UME, 1 pack of Booster, and their Wyeast Labs liquid stout...

Well it just so happens that I really do enjoy making my own beer, and it tastes so much better since I made it myself. I would join CASK right away but I have to see how much longer I am going to be living in Jax. I might have to try and attend the next meeting to check things out. Thanks for...

    Liquid Yeast storage

Ok, so I am still using my Mr. Beer setup since I am still very much a novice at home brewing, and I have ordered some supplies from their website. I am trying to make a stout so I ordered their liquid stout yeast, which clearly says on the package to keep at a temp between I think 36- 40...

    Multiple strains of yeast

    Ah, makes sense.

    Multiple strains of yeast

Can you use multiple strains of yeast in one batch of beer to try for a different flavor? Like say a dry yeast and a liquid yeast. Or is this just a terrible idea?

Hey guys, first post so I thought this would be a good palce to put it. Well I just started home brewing after my wife got me a Mr. Beer kit for Christmas. So far I have made the Pale Ale the kit came with, we have an apple cider carbonating now and I am about to start on a stout (my favorite...
