    "wort" or "wert"

Somewhere, I saw that was pronounced "vert." (I think it was from one of Charlie P's books.) steve

    A good NA drink, homebrewed.

Oh, a recent drink has been monopolizing one of my kegs. Lime sour. A couple (or more) limes, juiced. a few ounces of crushed ice. 25%. A quart or so,of carbonated water. (This has taken up one of my kegs.) And, about 1 tsp or so, of salt. It is VERY refreshing, and safe to drink, BEFORE...

British Brown Ale Nut Brown AG

Since I am now able to do all-grain, I'll be trying this with Maris Otter. (Is all grain BIB considered real all grain? a decent mash tun will be a few weeks away.) steve

750ML brown footed swing top bottles, $3.

Trader Joe has a ginger beer soda, for $3, in a brown footed swing top. It is pumpkin spice ginger beer, and tastes real good, mixed with Costco spiced dark rum ($13.99 here in Arizona.) The bottles look like EZ-Cap bottles, but are 750 ML. The clerk told me that these are there through...

    Paulaner Hefeweizen Yeast

I'm drinking a Paulaner right now, and am not getting any banana or clove notes. Good tasting beer, though. I may design a Hefe recipe, using this yeast. ( bought two bottles, just for propagating the yeast, and it is working.)

Cheap Grolsch type bottles at Aldi

I found some for $1.69 each, and last week on sale, $1.19. I grabbed quite a lot. steve

    Agave nectar?

This stuff is pure agave nectar. It usually sells for $25 at that store, and $40 or so retail. I'll try a straight mead recipe, using the agave, instead of honey. steve

    Agave nectar?

Has anyone used agave nectar in a recipe? I found 4 gallons of white and amber nectar for $12.50 each. (Half the usual price.) I've been using it as an adjunct in cider or mead recipes, and it is pretty good tasting. I can get 46 ounce paper cartons of apple juice, every so often, at the...

    Fruit Beer Lemon-Lime Hefe Weizen

That Butt Lite may be close to the final bodily fluid, after drinking this. (You may need to add some Clydesdale urine to properly copy that "stuff.") I have GOT to try this recipe! steve

Too good of a deal on kegs?

I've been using pinlock kegs, since I found them behind bars in Honolulu. I prefer pinlocks. I had about 25 of them when I left. That was the time everyone was switching over to BinB systems, and the old stuff was thrown out the back door. I even found a Co2 bottle, and a 9 tube cold...

    Growing Arizona Hops - Questions

How did these do? I recently planted a Cascade rhizome, and it is coming up just fine. I'm also in Mesa, Mesa Drive and Southern area. (Yes I DO realize this is an old thread.) steve

    Pinlock versus balllock?

Pinlocks, you can point the hose in any direction. If you look at the newer Homebrew style connects, the red part is the body. The pinlock barrel has the notches for the pins, not the body. You can still rotate the connect. I'm not running the barrel, and I don't need the Co2 bottle...

    Pinlock versus balllock?

Which is better, and why? Personally, I've always used pinlock. That was just from liking Coke better than Pepsi. Now, I've found a reason. I took a gas connect, and removed the pin lock barrel, on my gas line from the Co2 tank. I can now send gas down the dip tube to force carbonate...

    WLP 300?

4.75 gallons, about 1.090 OG. I didn't take a gravity reading today, but I'm guessing it is 1/2 gone. 1.045 ish. steve

Please post your ingredients, especially sugars and yeasts. (Water, too.) Amounts, please, as well. Did you take an original gravity reading? steve

    Looking for Kegerator Advice

Pinlocks? I'm not the only person using Coke kegs! To the original poster, I was living in Waimanalo, when I started homebrewing. In fact, my second batch was my first Stout. You ever heard that "rule" never take beer to a job interview? Ali'i Brewing, and I got the job! (I wish I...

    WLP 300?

OK, I'm making a batch of amber ale, and I want to see if I can use WLP 300, which is White Labs Hefeweizen yeast. This is not a yeast beer. 6 LBS Breiss light ale DME. 2 LBS brown sugar. 1 Qt Maple Syrup. About 1 pound of mixed Crystal malt. I oz Cascade hops. (I LIKE cascade hops!) I...
