    SWMBO Flavor Translator Needed

Thought I would share a story and thoughts from tonight.... I was out to dinner tonight with SWMBO having a local craft beer that she was enjoying. I asked what she liked about it compared to what I currently have on tap and she stated it wasn't as "strong". I asked her to detail a bit more...

    Another "unbalanced" report / question

Ok, thanks for the response. Maybe I will eventually get a third party report as well. Any metro Detroiters out there have any other tips?

    Another "unbalanced" report / question

Should I not trust this report considering the report shows .69 for the ion balance? I was looking forward to stepping up by brews with some water work, but am stuck. Any help is much appreciated!

    Chugger Pump, First run smell

I see the arrow where is says to add oil, but I don't see actually where it goes. Any info on how to apply the oil would be great.

    Chugger Pump, First run smell

Thanks for the reply. I also figured it was residuals oils or whatever, but surprised there weren't any posts about it. I will continue to monitor it.

    Chugger Pump, First run smell

I ran my new Chugger pump for the first time today. Everything appears to be running well, but the pump is emitting a fairly strong smell. It is almost a burnt type of smell, and the pump is fairly hot. Is there a break-in period or something with pumps where this is normal? Do pumps run...

    Ground Position, Please verify

Thanks for the reply. The Hex portion of the element is now flush against the kettle, this should be a solid connection. I drilled a hole in the Hex portion and attached the ground wire to a screw that is in that hole. See attached picture, hopefully I am good now.

110v Recirculating eBIAB 2.5 gallon batches

Jr, I finally got it figured out. I am awful with electrical. Thanks for responding. I just need to figure out how to ground my element (another thread) and I hope to brew this weekend. Thanks again!

    Ground Position, Please verify

By the way, I was thinking I would have to remove the outside washer for the ground to be proper. Not familiar with electrical, but good at following directions!

    Ground Position, Please verify

Will someone please verify that my planned ground position is OK? The threads on the element are heavily wound in teflon tape, and I have a rubber washer on the outside and inside, so there is no contact to the kettle. Is this OK? Trying not to kill myself, and can seem to find the answer...

110v Recirculating eBIAB 2.5 gallon batches

Great thread and write up! I am venturing into e-brewing, can't wait. I am a noob when it comes to electrical, and need a quick bit of help. 1. For the e-stop (purchased from Auber), there are 4 terminals. What terminal should I wire the hot, and which should I wire the ground? I...

Flaked corn and rice, stuck mash, need tips

Hey Silly, we are neighbors! I have a CPVC manifold. It only has two rows, so probably isn't optimal. The rice hulls fixed my issue though.

Flaked corn and rice, stuck mash, need tips

UPDATE: I just got done mashing the same recipe...but added 3 large hand fulls of rice hulls. Wow, worked great! No issues at all. Plus, they were only 90 cents a pound. Thanks again all that helped!

    How to use REAL rice?

Minute rice does sounds a bunch easier, thanks for the help!

    How to use REAL rice?

Sorry for the noobness, but what is the cereal mash?

    How to use REAL rice?

What is the process for using regular old rice in my mash? I know some use Minute rice, but I am looking to using regular old white rice. Any tips?

Flaked corn and rice, stuck mash, need tips

Captain, I was stuck before the sparge. Then tried thinning it out with sparge water, no luck . I knew I was in trouble when I opened the top and it was about the consistency of oatmeal (not quite, but that's what it reminded me of). I do sparge at a higher temp. Looks like the common...

Flaked corn and rice, stuck mash, need tips

It was 2-row, and the total. Just doing a partial mash, trying to come up with a light ale for the wifey.

Rice hulls ehh? Is that something most brew shops carry?
