    Saccharomyces Genome Database

Pretty much everything you would want to know about brewer's and baker's yeast. There are two parts to the website. There's the scientific part, which probably won't be to much of value to most of us homebrewers. Then there's the wiki part, which has a ton of links to resources. Worth...

    Ton of Hops

A Ton of Hops Anybody ever of these guys? How are their prices? I ask because a brew-friend recently asked me to go in with him on a bulk hop buy with him, and I haven't had the time to do any thourough research. I have no affiliation with these guys either.

    Acidify Sparge

How important is it to acidify the sparge water? I've heard that not treating it will cause astringency. If that's true, what should I use to acidify the sparge? Thanks in advance.

    Burners at Home Depot

Is anyone brewing on one of these burners? Also, would you recommend using either of these burners for boiling up to 7.5 gallons, or get a Blichman? Bayou Classic; Model SP10 Bayou Classic; Model SQ14 I look forward to reading your responses.

    Does DME Have Diastatic Power

Any help with this question would be very helpful. Does DME have diastatic power? In particular does Light DME or Wheat DME have the power to convert the starches of some specialty malts with DP of less than 35?

    Gelatin and Yeast

Just bottled my first two batches. I used gelatin in the secondary and then bottled after 3-5 days. Should I have added some dried yeast to the bottling bucket to replace any of the yeast that was pulled out by the gelatin? If they still have enough to carb, will it take longer than...

    Long Term Bottle Seal

So my friend and I just made our first batch of beer a couple weeks ago. Today, she told me she's pregnant (not mine). Is there a way that we can seal the bottle so that the beer inside doesn't go bad, or is there a way that we can at least find a way to preserve the beer? We have a Kolsch...

    Boil Temp

Just curious as to what temperature you guys bring your wort up to, and at what temperature you add your extract at.

    Wort Chiller Maintenance

I just got a stainless steel wort chiller. Is there anything that I should do to take care of it, like disconnect the hoses to let them and the coil dry out?

    Bottled Water

I don't like the taste of my tap water, so I plan on using a couple gallons of bottled water for my beers. Is there anything that I should know about the water profiles of the waters I should use? Also, is there anything that should be added. FYI-I'll be boiling 2.5 gallons and adding the...

    Newbie

Hey all, I'm another newbie. I did my first batch years ago, but didn't continue brewing due to time, money, and location restraints. Now I'm back and ready to brew and drink some beers that are better than the garbage that is usually served at local watering holes.
