    Don't do what I did

There are certain types of round up that kill and kill well. You are probably talking about the grass safe weed killer

    Don't do what I did

Never clean a wound on your head with hydrogen peroxide. For similar reasons.

Munich Helles Dead Guy Clone (Extract & AG- see note)

Great fun. Brewing this one as we speak using Northwest Ale yeast in lieu of Pacman.

    Weissbier Orange Honey Hefeweizen

That yeast seems very active to me. Its the only one ive actually ever had overflow.

big yeast cake floating in top of fermenter instead of falling out of suspension

Well, I gave the carboy a quick swirl and everything fell right to the bottom. It was about 2.5 weeks from brewday to today, so the layer struck me as kind of strange.

    Confessions of a S-05 junkie

Again, I appreciate the thoughts here... Rest assured I will be following through with many of these suggestions and I am very excited about it.

big yeast cake floating in top of fermenter instead of falling out of suspension

Interesting, I pulled this thread up while looking for an explanation for a floating layer of yeast on an IPA I have in primary right now. I cant say my layer is "bread like" but there is definitely a thin yeasty layer. Just to document this for posterity, I had a brain fart on this brew day...

    Confessions of a S-05 junkie

Yes, these are great suggestions... Bruin I think you are right about me looking for an English style... I am really trying to mix it up, so maybe in my next order I'll try a Scotch Ale and an English Ale... As for the IPA, crisp is fine here... I think I just am looking for something a...

    Confessions of a S-05 junkie

I really dont know how to describe what I'm looking for, but the -05 seems more "crisp" and what I'm looking for would be considered "smooth"

    Confessions of a S-05 junkie

I have been brewing for about a year and a half. I do all grain and have a great variety of recipes I like. I also lean pretty heavily on the S-05. That being said, I work in a lab, I have access to tons of lab equipment, and I really want to start toying around with yeast this summer...

    Weissbier Orange Honey Hefeweizen

IMO the changes you made will result in a much different beer than the one in this recipe. I wouldn't be afraid of the clove and banana notes, as they compliment the orange blossom honey quite nicely- one of the reasons I like this recipe so much. This recipe does not come out extremely...

Frigidaire Model FRC445GB Mini-Fridge Kegerator Conversion

Yeah that sucks. I did the same damn thing. It's pretty fragile. If you go back a few months in this thread you can read my sad story. External is the way to go from here. I had some struggles but got it done. I would have been tempted to buy a new fridge but this was the last thing I had to do...

Frigidaire Model FRC445GB Mini-Fridge Kegerator Conversion

I can lend my advice. Is it the white wire or the grey large sensor probe? I broke the probe and needed to go with an external. If it's just the wire you should be able to splice it or attach it somehow I would think. Don't panic though at the very least you should be able to go external. I...

    Blueberry Ale

great stuff here... i just did a blueberry pale ale and carried it out the same way... fermented for 2.5 weeks and racked onto blueberries.... im just not sure how long im going to leave the berries in there. i am thinking only a week and then im going to keg it and serve it with berries (to...

Boil to Beverage in 3 Weeks?

-note i wouldnt recommend that if the beer is going to be on tap for more than 2 weeks... the hops will probably fall to the bottom and cause infinite dip tube issues

Boil to Beverage in 3 Weeks?

not sure how the abbreviated keg hop is going to work out for me... im actually thinking of sacking the hops and just leaving them in the keg.... a friend of mine has also simply dumped a bunch of hops straight into the keg and left them there.... said it poured slow but the beer was terrific

Boil to Beverage in 3 Weeks?

i'm about to say F-it and drop my beer from primary into a keg right now... brewed it 2 weeks + 5 days ago... i have friends coming on friday and last time he came down i had nothing. now ive got a keg that i can lift with my pinky finger (i'm going to save that) and this wheat/rye beer thats...

thanks man i really appreciate the imput... i'll freeze them until its time for 2ndary and plop them in there. and i will back off the hops a bunch. i've been brewing since january, so just now im getting to the point where i want to get really creative. took the time to get all grain...

I've got a bunch of fresh blueberries....

and i have a pale ale recipe i was thinking of adding them to.... i'm looking for any suggestions. i could: -abandon the ale recipe and order a wheat based recipe -add them to secondary in my pale ale recipe -(more of a question) could I use them during the boil? also what...
