    So this is whats up...

from what i understand is that people that have homebrewed IPAs and the like said that with time some of the characteristics of the hoppy/bitter-ness will subside with time. i do not know this from personal experience, only with what i've read on this website though.

getting ready for bottling this weekend one question

I got this delicious brew hanging out in bottles and I'm ever so anxious to just open one but I know that's a bad idea lol. I'm going to open one each of these three weeks I'm letting it carb just to see the changes that progress. I can already see the light film of yeast on the bottom of the...

    Overshot my OG number

Something like 70 or 75 percent efficiency is normal if you go over your gravity by some points like that you'll pretty much just have beer a bit more alcoholic

i pitched my notty into my batch of haus pale ale when it was around low-mid 80's. i wast proud of it, but it took forever to get my temps down, and i had to get to bed, so i did it and the yeasties had no problem working away, i've bottled that batch and it tasted great before i did.

Letting it sit on the trub

from what ive read in a lot of posts it seems that there is a significant number of people that let their beer sit in the primary for the length of time they primary, like 3-4 weeks etc. what i was wondering is that when you guys do that, i imagine you just dump everything in your boil kettle...

well its tasty! im drinking some now and its not bad at all, the only suggestion i am going to try for my self is that i need brewers yeast, it leaves a bready malty flavor thats nasty in pop, and less lemon! only 1 tbsp next time

getting ready for bottling this weekend one question

i know thats what im hoping. im using the plastic tube my hydrometer came in, and its suitable for measurement i believe. i tested the hydrometer against water, and it came up ~1.000 so i believe this particular hydrometer system is taking correct readings. ill be more thorough with future...

getting ready for bottling this weekend one question

okay well i pulled some and took a grav reading. my hydrometer is measured for 70 degrees F so i warmed the beer up to that temp, and i took several readings and they all read ~1.011, so according to this recipe its done, but like i said, all i have to go by is my proposed 1.040-1.050 OG, but...
