    Welch's Grape Juice Wine

I think 7-8 inches is plenty. That's more headspace than I usually have for this wine.

    Welch's Grape Juice Wine

It's pretty sweet but not sweet enough for my wife. I was surprised that it needed sweetened, too. I should also say that I threw in a few bottles of an older grape wine I made that was kinda dry.

    Welch's Grape Juice Wine

I've made a few batches of this stuff, a one gallon and two 5 gallon. I was surprised at how "hot" is was at first. The 5 gallon batch was aged for 6 months and was still hot when I bottled it. After about 1 - 2 months in the bottle it smoothed right out. I backsweetened at the end and this...

    Bass Pale Ale

I was in your shoes only a year or so ago. My preference changed quite abit over the last year. I started out thinking APA's and IPA's were too hoppy. But they've slowly become my favorite. Haven't tried bass, but I think I will soon. I love Sierra Nevada.

    Brewer's Best vs. MoreBeer kits

I've done 2 BB batches and just got 3 morebeer kits in. One is in the primary now. The morebeer kits have more LME and WAY more steeping grains than the Brewer's Best kits. The only poblem was that the morebeer kits didn't come with a bag to steep the grains in. So I had to make a last...

    Keg Priming: Force or traditional

I think you'll get next to no cooling if you run your supply line thorough an ice bath. Unless your supply line is copper or stainless steel and and you've got a 10 foot coil. My understanding is that it will carb faster if the beer is left at room temp. and yes you can leave it at room...

    Perfect begginers beer.

I made the brewer's best English Brown Ale kit for my first brew about a month and half ago. Its almost go now. I'm hiding the last 4 bottles from my buddies. It was easy and good. I didn't use a secondary fermentor and started drinking it 3 weeks after brew day. It tasted alot like New...

    First batch tastes like plastic

I made the same kit IPA as you. Its my second batch. Just got done last weekend. Having one right now actually. Anyway, mine tastes alot like Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, to me and my father-in-law at least. There is plenty of hop flavor in my opinion. Enough that my wife can't stand it and...

Listermann's kits/ when to add honey

Does anyone have opinions reguarding Listermann's ingredient kits. I'm thinking about ordering from them and would like to hear from anyone whose used them. Another question, If I want to add honey to a batch should I put it in the boil?

    Hops amount question

At the risk of sounding like a moron, what is a partial boil?

    Liquid yeast worth the fuss?

I've made a few batches from kits (Brewer's Best) with good results. I'm planning on buying my next extract kits from Austin Homebrew Supply. They have some good selections for clones. Is it really worth $6 - $7 for liquid yeast? I'm a long way from Texas and I've heard that in the summer...

    Beer rating resource

I found a decent resource I thought I would share. www.mylifeisbeer.com There's alot of premium beers out there I haven't tried yet and site like this helps me decide what to buy this weekend. And that may lead me to what I want to brew next. Man research is such hard work.:D

    Will chilled homebrew skunk?

That's great news, bring on the kegs! Thanks guys.

    Will chilled homebrew skunk?

I'm thinking about kegging my next batch but I'm not sure I will use it all in one session. The keg will take up alot of room in the fridge and my wife won't like it at all. So my question is, if I let it come to room temp after being chilled is it going to ruin all my hard work and taste bad...

    Mini CO2 enough for kegging?

I'm new to this and I don't anticipate using a keg very often since I don't have a kegerator. I do have some extra corny kegs though. I'm wondering if I keg my next batch and get the fitttings, faucet and one of those mini CO2 things is that enough? Do I have to have a regulator? Thanks.

    Fermentation Times, adding more Yeast

I've only made 2 batches both are Brewer's Best. They only fermented for 3 days each and all airlock activity ceased. My fermenter is kept at 70°. I bottled the first one on the fourth day and I probably shouldn't have. I've got a lot of settling in the bottles. But no beer bombs yet.

    Corny for secondary?

I've got my first batch fermenting and it smells great, I can hardly wait. I've got a few questions just like every other newby. The first day in the ferment the airlock was bubbling like mad. Day 2 was one bubble every couple of minutes and day three no bubbles. I guess I should mention I...
