    Clarity-Ferm Shipping

Similar to many other home brewers out there, I find it hard to keep my hands off of my beer long enough to wait for the cold conditioning process and besides that I'm all about short-cuts. Hence, my interest in clarity ferm. I've read about promising results here on the forums in regards to...

    long lag time

Saturday was my first all grain attempt, and all seemed to go well. I warmed the yeast to room temp, then pitched my California ale yeast at about 80 degrees. I placed my beer in the garage for a few hours to cool the beer to about 68, then brought it back into the house where the temp is a...

    Feed Store Barley

I'm trying to get my plans together for my first all grain brew. My sister in-law works at a feed store, and can get a great deal on barley. Is there any difference between feed barley and the barley you'd buy from a brew shop?

Plan for all grain in motion

I'm excited to delve into the world that is all grain. I just purchased a 10 gallon water cooler, and I'm looking at different mash tun set-ups. I stumbled across this http://cruisenews.net/brewing/infusion/page1.php Has anyone used this setup, if so, do you have any problems with it...

    Sake?

I was browsing through the recipe threads, and didn't notice any sake recipes. I'm just curious if anyone has tried to make it, and if they did, how long did it take and how did it turn out?

    No Bubbles

Brewed my brown ale sunday night, and after 72 hours I haven't heard any bubbling coming from the airlock. I cracked the lid I saw the krausen caked to the sides of the bucket and figured I'd go ahead and take a specific gravity reading to make sure I was making progress. The SG was down from...

    Outta homebrew!!!

I have about 8 beers left from my nut brown ale, and my current brew is still about a month and a half away from being ready:( . Till then I'm attempting to stretch out my remaining homebrew by drinking the left over bud-light and michelob ultra a buddy left over. I'm not attempting to start...

    do you use clarifying agents?

A recent thread brought up the question, but it seems that the easiest method is to strain your trub/hot break before transfering your wort into the primary. I'm just curious how often you all use clarifying/finning agents if at all.

    Egg Whites?

I was reading this article on beer clarifying agents, and was quite surprised to see that egg whites are used for clarity. Has anyone ever tried this? http://www.bollweevilbrewery.com/index.php/articles-info/clarifiers

    Delayed bubbles

This is batch #3, and my first time using liquid yeast. I assumed that liquid yeast would take off better than dry, and as a result of my idiocy, I didn't bother making a starter. There wasn't any airlock activity for at least 30 hours, so I went to bed pissed off at the thought of having to...

    Beer Foam

When I pour my homebrew, I get a nice head of foam, approx. 1/2 inch, but there is always a few bottles out of the batch that when poured, produce massive amounts of foam. In these bottles, I would say up to 50 percent of the glass ends up filling with beer foam. So far, I haven' noticed any...

    Dead yeast??

I cooled the wort to 80 degrees within 30 minutes, pitched the yeast, and after 3 days with room temps being around 72 degrees, I have yet to hear any bubbles:confused: . Unless my fermentation happened overnight, I think I have some bad yeast. I've cracked open the lid to take a peek, and see...

    Honey Nut Brown Ale

    Bottle Conditioning Weisenbeir

I jsut cracked open a bottle from my first batch (weisenbeir), and after weeks filled with anticipation I can finally say that my beer is awesome, and actually tastes much better than I expected :ban: . My beer has only been conditioning for one week, and seems to be well carbonated. Should I...

    Very Hoppy Beer

While bottleing my first batch of home brew, I poured a glass for myself to taste how the beer has progressed over the different stages of the brewing process. My hefeweisen turned out awesome, but found it was very hoppy, even after three weeks in the secondary. I don't mind hoppy beer...
