I want to join my local homebrew club

The upstate brewtopians, but I serve tables for a living and work a double shift every Saturday(when their meetings are held.) it kind of bums me out. I'm looking for friends to brew with, and made 2 homebrewers out of 2 friends. But I want to be able to learn more from friends, it seems like I...

So I want to grow barley.

I know I won't get the same consistancy and quality as buying it, but I had a lot of satisfaction from from garden this year. So why not? I am also getting goats next season and figured After getting what I need from the the Harvest that they would enjoy the rest. The problem is that all I can...

    Making your own CO2

So since the price of refilling my 5lb tank has risen to nearly $30, I was thinking of trying to capture the co2 from fermentation and use it to carb and dispense. I figure I could dedicate one of my corny kegs as a closed fermenter with the gas tube connected to a low pressure regulator, and...

    Used 2lbs instead of 2oz

So I brewed a 10g batch of a bier de Garde recipe from the book brewing classic styles today. The grain bill called for: 23lbs 2 row 6lbs Munich 1.5lbs cara Vienna 2 lbs cane sugar 2oz black patent So the lady at the brewery didn't notice that the black patent was oz instead of lbs and...

Worst bar experience ever! (Greenville, SC)

So last night my brother and I were out shooting some pictures with some new photography equipment i bought. We decided to have a beer at our favorite bar in town, Barley's Taproom and Pizzeria. I've been going there since I got back from Iraq, about 2 years now. As we got upstairs, i saw that...

I think i cured my infected IPA

So the result from this thread, https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f163/carboy-exploded-while-i-work-205061/ caused my batch to have that astringent sour bitterness that makes your tongue feel like your drinking paint remover. (because i wasn't home to sanitize the bungs and tubing for the blow-off...

My pipeline is never big enough (a rant........kind of)

So it seems that between me, my brother, the casual friends being over, and a growler as a gift now and then, I can't brew regularly enough. I have been trying some larger batches (10-15 gallons), but I only have 2 kegs and 2 taps on my fridge, so most of the time 1 of the taps is always down...

So my brother text me while I was working, saying one of my carboys from my 15 gallon batch exploded. What a mess to clean up, I think i learned to hate whole leaf hops.... or love boiling bags. I'll post pics after i clean the mess.

    HBT is Legal Eagle???

So i noticed how evn some of the smallest offenses to the law are kind of frowned upon and not condoned to be discussed here. For example accepting kegs from a bar, or distilling. So i have to ask, anyone here stop brewing after 100 gal annually?

So I've decided to dump it

So ive never had an infection before. My delicious new red ale that i brewed for my brother is sour. The hyrometer reading that i took yesterday tasted awesome, so i racked to my corni, set it to 30 psi and stuck it in the fridge. Today when i tapped a sample to check the carbonation, it was...

    Beersmith problem!

The area that list the ingredients during input will not appear. Therefore i can't remove, change, or highlight any ingredients. The gravity, color, and other stats affected by the ingredients still change, so I really have no idea how to fix this. Any Advice?

    Talk about a hook-up!

Well, today I had about 5 maintenance problems in my apartment. Leaking sink and dishwasher, bad closet track, and the AC went out. But the most important one, the shelf on my fridge door broke and condiments went everywhere as i opened the door. So the maintenance man came and saw my closet...

Awesome new wort chiller design. Pics

I'm sure I'm not the very first to do this, but i haven't seen it yet. I simply put a copper coil from Lowes, and stuck it in a bucket. Something had to be done, it was taking almost an hour to chill 5 gallons with my old chiller, and i just got an aluminum 80 quart kettle for 1/2bbl...
