Has anyone here ever done a Schlitz clone?

A lawnmower beer would be a light American ale and might be as close as you could get but would still not taste like Schlitz. Thank god! :D

    Lagering in my living room

Are even worse than cars on slippery roads due to their high center of gravity. 4x4 only helps when you go into low gear and travel real slow! But, the average moron doesn't see that in SUV TV ads.

    Forgiving Lager

I ended up getting a Brewers Best kit at my local brew store called Continental Pilsner. I substituted the dry yeast for the Wyeast Pilson lager. It’s sitting in the chest freezer now at about 50 degrees and I’m getting a bubble per second 24 hours after pitching.

    Forgiving Lager

I just got a chest freezer, and my control unit is on the way. Anyone know of a Lager that is good for the first time Lager brewer?

    Brew temp

I'm ready to start my next project for this winter. Can anyone recommend a beer that would ferment at around 58 degrees? I'm kinda cheap, so thats what I keep the temp at in my house. Thanx

    First batch ever

I just had to try one after one week in the bottle. Carbonation was good, and the beer tasted excellent. It kind of reminded me of a lite version of Guinness stout. If it gets better with age, I really hit the jackpot! :mug:

    First batch ever

I got 44 bottles from this batch. The next three weeks are going to be hard!

    First batch ever

My brew has been in the secondary for two weeks now. Gravity is almost right at 1.010. Took a small taste from the thief, and it's excellent. Smells fine too. I'm so pumped. I can't wait to start my next batch, but that will have to wait until I get a chest freezer setup. A lager is next...

    First batch ever

No gravity reading yet. No apology nessessary. When the Lions suck (as always) I pull for the Bears. As long as it's not the Packers!

    First batch ever

After racking last week, I had almost no activity. Now I am getting a bubble every three seconds or so, and a thin layer of foam is starting to form. It was a bit of a warm day here in Detroit, and my house got up to about 75 degrees. I did a fast smell test, and it seems fresh. Is this...

    First batch ever

I just racked my mild ale to the secondary. All told, I came up about a gallon short of 5. I will know to boil more next time. The beer smelled good, and there was a nice layer of sediment on the bottom of the primary. The next two weeks will be hard.

    Adding water

I plan to rack to my seconary after a week in the primary. If I have less than 5 gallons, is it ok to add sterile water to top it off?

    Bathwater Blonde

    Now that is hot!

    First batch ever

I plan to rack it to a secondary glass carboy. I think I will give it another couple of days.

    First batch ever

I'm down to a bubble every rate of one every 20 seconds or so. I pitched about 37 hours ago. I took a quick look through the airlock hole, and saw some light foam on the sides. Do you'all think I'm OK?

is there Homebrew supply store etiquette?

It seems like alot of the people who own brewshops must also own gunshops! Anyway, any store owner who acts like an ******* to me does not get my money unless I am truly desperate. If I have time, I will hang around the store for a little bit and bother the the SOB with alot of stupid...

    First batch ever

My airlock was bubbling like crazy this morning. As of now I am down to a bubble every three seconds or so. I wish I could see through the plastic bucket!

    Howdy from Motown!!

Hi PBowler. I have not been to Marquette in about twenty years. I started at NMU in 1977. I went back and finished after a stint in the Army. I remember we had snow tunnels then! I couldn't see the outside world from my window on the first floor in Gant hall for months. I had a nice built...
