    turkey fryer

Opened one of the Pale Ales that I brewed in the pot used for frying turkeys. It tasted fine to me, no off flavors that I could detect. I have used the pot twice for beer now and no longer smell the peanut oil.

Is it the bottle or the capper?

I tried a search before posting, but could'nt find anything pertaining to this question. I checked my capper and its not adjustable. Thanks for the advice, guess I'll have to buy another capper. I do'nt want the bottle to be the deciding factor in which beer I buy.

Is it the bottle or the capper?

I was bottling some Pale Ale today and began having trouble capping some of bottles while others capped with no problem. The bottles that gave me trouble were shorter and had a little bit more slender neck. I am using a hand held wing type capper. Would a bench top capper work on these bottles...

    turkey fryer

I cleaned the pot with dish detergent several times and I also soaked it in bleach. I haven't had any beer go any further than the fermenter yet, so I am unable to tell you how the beer tastes. Soon as this batch has been in the bottle for a week I'll start sampling.

    turkey fryer

I don't know why the ferment failed, I pitched twice and got nothing both times. I discussed this on another thread, and never came up with a definitive reason. I have fryed a couple of turkeys in the pot and couldn't get the peanut oil smell out of the pot. Now that I've used it twice for beer...

    turkey fryer

For those of you that are interested, my first batch of beer in the turkey fryer would'nt ferment and I had to throw it away. The 2nd batch is bubbling away nicely in the primary fermenter. More to come in a few weeks as to taste.

    did'nt ferment

I did'nt take a gravity reading, but I did taste it, very sweet with no bite at all. When I rehydrated the yeast in luke warm water and covered it with plastic wrap for about 10 minutes before pitching it. I did'nt know what else to do to the beer so I tossed it. I only have 1 fermenter and...

    did'nt ferment

I pitched another packet of yeast and waited 3 days, and still nothing happened. So with a tear in my eye I dumped out that batch. I immediately started my 3rd batch and it was bubbling away this morning. On my 1st and 3rd batch, I sprinkled the yeast over the top of the wort as per instructions...

    Thinking of brewing

I've been drinking Bud since I was 18, legal then, and I still drink some. In the last few years I started drinking mostly micro brews and imports. Much more flavor!!! I recently started home brewing just to see if I could duplicate some of my favorite brews, not to save money. It's a hobby man...

    did'nt ferment

I just opened my fermentation bucket after 1 week, I was away from home the first few days of fermentation so I was not here to see if anything was coming through the airlock. When I opened the bucket there had been no activity at all. Is it to late to save the beer by adding more yeast?

    guinness bottles

Has anyone used Guinness Draught bottles with the plastic capsules to bottle their home brew? My ? is about sanitation. Will the capsule sanitize if soaked in solution? Thanks

    turkey fryer

Hello to all, I boiled my first wort a couple of weeks ago in the kitchen. My wife says I can't do that anymore. Her comment, " the house smells like a brewery". My comment, "good, I must be doing something right". Anyway, you can figure out what her next comment was. My question is can I use...
