I've seen something like that before--the big blobs. Do you have a high calcium content in your water? Or hard water? My guess is that you have some cold break that has clumped together. I've seen something like that a few time from brews here in the Omaha area.

For swapping I would go to Airgas. There are at least 2 locations I have been to. One is on 82nd near Foster and the other is near Bridgeport Village. They usually run about $17. If you want to consolidate a trip to a brew store, Brew brothers in Hillsboro does swaps and Steinbarts does fills.
