    Howto: Capture Wild Yeast

Actually, the wild yeast is in fact blowing around in the air. You don't need bugs landing in your wort to catch it! I used paint straining bags and was actually very successful - see post above... :)

    Howto: Capture Wild Yeast

Just posted an article on my blog about my adventure in yeast wrangling if anyone would like to see another success story :) http://potablesandedibles.com/2011/02/homebrew-wild-yeast-experiment.html

Wyeast 3191 Berliner Weisse no activity

I threw a pack of the 3191 into a batch second runnings from a BDSA back in November - when I racked it to secondary (into a corny-needed the carboy back in circulation) last month there was no pellicle, only the mildest of sour notes present & very bland. I figured I would throw in some white...

Wait until I've tasted my first batch before starting another?

Just to be repetitive...+1 on the brewing another! I so wish I had done that....we are now brewing about 2 batches a week in our house to get a good back log going!! :D

How did your homebrew do at Christmas?

The bastards wiped me out! Emptied 5G of Graff's cider as well as the remaining wheatbeer and IPA bottles... I think I stashed one IPA away in the back of the fridge for later tho' :)

I second the brewmasterswarehouse.com recommendation. We ordered over 40lbs of grain from them recently and still paid the flat rate shipping ($6.99) and two day fedex to south florida! Love it.

What if the SWMBO in the house IS the home brewer? ;) (as in mine...)

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

So finished mine up, kegged and force carbonated in time for Festivus on the 23rd. Came out at 5.8% and quite delicious if I don't say so myself... well actually the fact that 5 gallons of this has already been consumed in the past 5 days says it for me ;)

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

Made my first attempt at this on Thursday night, we had a tonne of various types of apples left over from our organic shares the past 2 weeks (gala, granny smith and crimson gold crab apples) which I juiced - about 1/2 a gallon and made up the rest of the 4 gallons with concentrate. The OG...

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

Looking forward to brewing a batch of this on the weekend! The boy is about to brew up a batch of Dark Saison, and has some White labs Saison 565 yeast left over - I think this will be a good fit as an alternative to Nottingham - any thoughts on that? Any feedback appreciated. Probably...

Hi from Lake Worth FL :)

Last month, I was lucky enough to have my wonderful other half buy me my own home brew set up as a 1st anniversary gift! :mug: I in turn bought him a kegerator :D Our first brew was an American IPA, which we half-kegged, half-bottled. It was a solid first effort, and a good session beer at...
