    Brewing in the morning?

I think Alan Jackson and the great Jimmy Buffett already answered this question: "It's 5 o'clock Somewhere!!" So go right ahead and have a guilt free homebrew.

    Nebraska Newb

Hello. The only thing better than brewing homebrew during a Nebraska winter's day is to drink said homebrew. What part of the state do you reside?

    1st Cider, approaching kegging time

Decided to attempt a simple cider. I added a package of Nottingham's yeast to 5 gallons of cider. After a week or two, I steeped cherries & added them into the secondary fermentation. After a couple weeks, I transferred it to a tertiary fermentor, without the cherries. During this last...

    My first home brew

welcome & congrats on your first batch. while you should always be careful, beer is pretty resiliant & a batch doesn't easily turn out bad - don't give up hope. customer service seems to be an issue with many LHBS. Lucky for us, the internet gives us access to many great homebrew supply...

How do you add fruit to a batch?

I too have used the "lazy man's" way & added the raspberry flavoring to the secondary. It was very good, and almost too easy.

    First batch ever

yes, as Tom Petty sings, "The waiting is the hardest part." Very few things you can do are as rewarding as seeing a newly bubbling airlock. Definately one of life's simple pleasures.

I just ordered from them, haven't brewed them yet - but the service is excellent. Quick delivery & nice looking product. Previously, I have ordered from Alternative Beverage - and they too have great products. You may want to check out their monthly specials - pretty good deals on some...

    Lemon Zest update

thanks for relaying the info with your lemon experiment. I was wondering about limes as well - this helped finding some good info. Ruppe: your brew sounds like it should be similar to "Tequiza" (which I really like.) Any other thoughts on your brew you would like to share? I've been...

Is it wrong to like a commercial beer?

IMO, it's not wrong to like commercial brews. It's just wrong when you prefer them. :D

    brewing with limes?

seems so natural to me, but found very little about it. anyone try? Curious about: -using it in the wort (use the juice, zest, either/both?) -adding lime juice to the secondary, or while bottling -has anyone come across any lime flavoring additive? -any other ideas using limes that I am...

    Beginning to Keg Q's

Getting ready to keg for the first time. I'm cleaning the keg with PBW, and turned it upside down to set for a while. While upside down, I'm getting the tiniest of water leaking - pretty sure around the oval lid. I've replaced the rubber seal, and still getting a small leak. My 1st question...

    fermenting problem?

hey - thanks everyone. I think I had everything under control (temp, etc.,) So I guess it is possible that it happened that fast. I'll let everyone know how it turned out later.

    fermenting problem?

I'm brewing a batch for the 1st time in over 6 years. everything was going great, the bubbler was bubbling continuously within 24 hrs. Then, after about 2.5 days from pitching - it quit bubbling. Surely it can't be done fermenting (after only 1.5 days)? One concern: the yeast may be a bit...

    Brewing Again!!

oh, I've figured out the worst part about brewing your 1st batch: not having any homebrew to drink while working on it. Oh well. I guess some JW Dundee's Pale Ale will have to do for now.

    Brewing Again!!

Hello, Right now, I'm brewing my first batch in 6+ years (Wicked Strawberry Blonde clone.) Don't know why I waited so long - guess the usual reasons............3 kids. Anyway, the kids are with grandma for a few days so I dug out the ol' kit. To alleviate the time crunch, I've invested in...
