    Question about kegerator kit

I was thinking that the 5 lb tank was the "real" way to do it, but I wanted to ask about the 20 oz tank non-the-less.

    Question about kegerator kit

I was looking at kegconnection.com last night and I saw that they have a couple of kits that allow you to use a 20 oz paintball CO2 canister. I haven't been doing a lot of homebrewing lately, so my main interest is to be able to have commercial beer on tap at home. Since I won't have to force...

    Too much iodophor?

I screwed up when mixing up sanitizer and used about an ounce of BTF in 5 gallons of water and it stained my plastic fermenter and blow-off hose. Will this cause a problem with my beer? I don't mind rinsing the fermenter out and re-sanitizing it if that's what I need to do. Thanks in advance.

First Taste of my first Brew!

The yeast doesn't affect me anymore, but the first batch of beer I brewed sent me running to the rest room a time or two.

Boston Ale brew is in the books....

Boston Ale was the goal, but I didn't do a lot of searching for recipes. I'll be the first to say that it isn't anything like Boston Ale. I think this beer is going to become my pet project. Its ok now, but its missing a few things. A little tweaking and it could be great.

Boston Ale brew is in the books....

Yeah, it was a bastardized recipe from the get go. The cascade hops were left over from a previous brew, so I just threw them into secondary because I was tired of them being in my fridge. I guess I should have done a little more research before starting, but the beer is definitely drinkable and...

    Cherries in Beer = Nightmare

I propose a new man law: Don't fruit the beer!

Boston Ale brew is in the books....

Just a quick update: The beer is ok at best, and is nothing like Sam Adams Boston Ale. I don't really have a frame of reference to compare it to, but let's just say that my wife likes it and she doesn't like beer at all. Despite its complete failure at trying to be like Boston Ale, it is highly...

Boston Ale brew is in the books....

The title says it all. I just pitched my yeast and have sat down to enjoy a Sam Adams Boston Lager. I decided a couple weeks ago that it was time to brew again, but I didn't know what to try to brew. My last brew was an SNPA clone and it turned out awesome. This time I decided to go with a...

Who's brewing this weekend (Feb. 16-18)?

I'm brewing a Sam Adams Boston Ale clone this weekend. I've got everything I need except for 5 gallons of water from the store.

Looking for a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale Clone

The link posted by orfy in the first response to the original poster was to my recipe thread. The recipe that I followed, from AHBS, was a little more hoppy than the real SNPA but it turned out awesome. It actually spoiled me and I can't drink real SNPA anymore since it isn't as good as what I...

Convert a recipe for me please?

That's what I needed. I couldn't remember the conversion factor and was too buzzed to find it.

Convert a recipe for me please?

I'm going to make a clone of Sam Adams Boston Ale and I found a good recipe, but I need it converted to either extract or extract + steeped grains. I've done a mini-mash before and just don't feel like doing it again at the moment. Can someone please convert the grain bill below to either...

    I've got an idea

That's what I was planning on doing. I'm going to fire up pro-mash this afternoon and work out a hop schedule that produces a similar IBU number. I'm probably going to use nugget for the bittering hops. I used them in my last brew, a SNPA clone, and it came out great. I actually like what I...

    I've got an idea

I really like arrogant bastard, but I'm not a big fan of Chinook hops. Arrogant Bastard is damn good beer...don't get me wrong. But what if Cascades were used instead? I think I'll give it a try and see what I come up with. Any suggestions?

    Is it just me?

Is it just me or does Hop Devil taste very similar to Arrogant Bastard?

    SNPA clone is in bottles...

Well, after about 2 weeks in bottles the stuff is carbed up good and tasting great. Another week or two to mellow a little more will make for some damn good brew. As for AHB's SNPA clone, it is really good and if I'd used liquid yeast it would be better. With the nottingham yeast it is...

    good wine making book?

I know absolutely nothing about making wine...I make my own beer though. My dad has started making wine, but so far all he's used is the kits that have the juice concentrate and all the fining agents included. Can anyone recommend a good book or website that outlines making your own wine from...

    Where to get DAP?

Check the bottom of page 2 and then again on the bottom of page 6 continuing on page 7. http://www.morebeer.com/public/pdf/wmead.pdf#search=%22mead%20making%20instructions%22

    Where to get DAP?

I'm interested in making a mead, but all the resources I've found on making mead recommend a DAP addition at the beginning of fermentation and another at the 1/3 or 1/2 way point. Is Fermaid-K good enough for both nutrient additions? Is Fermaid-K and DAP the same thing?
