What do they mean by batch size?

I know this has been asked before and I did do a search on here first, but I found conflicting responses. My question is: when a magazine like Zymurgy says "Ingredients for 6.25 gallons", is this preboil or postboil volume? Note that the recipe I'm trying to follow does not say "batch...

    CO2 Volumes for Hefeweisen

I've read several references that say hefeweisen should be served at a CO2 content of 3.6 to 4.5 volumes. But last night while reading Brewing Classic Styles their recipe called for 2.5 volumes. It seems like you'd want something higher than that but 4.5 seems really high. In my case, the...

    Teflon tape on keg posts?

I'm new to kegging and I've been scanning these forums, great advice out there. But one thing I'm unsure about is where to use teflon tape. I see advice that says "use teflon tape on all threaded fittings". Does this include the keg posts too, or only the CO2 side of the system?

OK to Use Teflon Lube on Keg O-Rings?

Is it OK to use a teflon-based lubricant on my o-rings? The lube I have, called "Magic Lube", is specifically for o-rings and gaskets, and I bought it at a pool store. The label says it's USDA H-1 rated, which I believe is food grade. Should be compatible w/ keg o-rings, and should be OK to...

    Washers for Bulkhead Assembly

I'm putting together my 2-tier brew rig and wanted to upgrade my valves and tubing to 1/2". I looked at several of the online cooler bulkhead fittings and wasn't sure how well they'd work with my 10g Rubbermaid coolers, which have walls at the spigot area that are very thin. Also, if something...

    Two-Tier Brewstand Tubing Advice Needed

I built a two-tier brewstand. The HLT is on the elevated portion, and I'll use gravity to move the hot water from the HLT to the MLT. I'll use a single pump to move liquid everywhere else. I batch sparge and do 5-gal batches. My MLT is a 10-gal rubbermaid cooler built per FlyGuy's guide...
