    Hops for kolsch

I purchased a kit from the lhb place. The directions are a bit generic, not entirely sure on hop addition boil times. It is a Kolsch kit and it came with 2 1oz packages of hops. German spalt and Santium. Can I get some hints at boiling time and addition amounts for these 2? I worked up a quick...

    Aussie Rules Footy

I had posted a thread a while back to see if we had any afl fans on the boards. I just renewed my subscription and the service still runs good, just thought i would throw that out for any footy fans out there. I have no ties to this service, ymmv, but I have had no problems out of it so far...

    Another semester in the books.

Cant believe I have made it through 3 of them. I'm suprised I have any brain cells left, with all the screwing off I did in my 20's. :mug:

    Quit chasing the dragon today.

I counted up my played time on my account, 100 days 8 hours. I deleted all of my characters and I'm on the road to WOW sobriety. For those not in the know, WOW is World of Warcraft.

Ready to get off of extracts

So, after brewing my first batch in over a decade, I have decided to pop the extract teat out of my mouth. My big problem is where to start on formulating a partial mash recipe. I would like to make another heff, I only want to use 1 can of lme, how do i go about formulating the grain bill...

    On to the bottles!

Well i finally opened my fermenter after 2 long weeks of torture, the color looked good, and it smelled like beer, so yay. I took a little taste and it tasted like a hef, nothing spectacular but good enough for a come back brew. My FG was fairly close +/- .3%, it did have a slight sour off note...

Does anyone else go through phases?

For instance right now, I can not get enough Weiss beer into me. This in itself is kind of odd, i didnt like hef for a while, then it just grew on me. My phase before this was nothing but IPA and malty bocks. I'm just curious if im alone in this insanity or if there are others like me.

    Waiting is Torture

I'm in brewing limbo hell, I have 5 gallons of hef fermenting, and 5 of ed's apfel. I have dreams of riping off the lid and sticking my head in, man i forgot what a PIA it is to wait for this stuff. I guess ill add the LQ and a few bottles of Ayinger to my "to do list" for tomorrow.

    Dme addition to bump ABV

I'm brewing some hef this weekend, and I want to bump up the abv a bit. 3.3 LME 3.3 LME 15 min Haller for 60 min 3068 Smack 4.68 ABV estimate Can I add about a pound of DME to bump this up, without making any drastic flavor or color changes to the beer? If so, would it be best to do...

A few questions about extract Hef

I plan on making a simple extract hef, it has been over a decade since I have brewed anything, so I have a few quick questions. 1. Can the yeast survive in my basement? I would say temp is between 55 and 60, closer to 58. I'm worried about it getting stuck. 2. Will moving to a secondary...

Looking for a Jim N Nicks Mudbone recipe

I moved out west last year, on the way i stoped in denver to get one last Mudbone. I about had a heart attack, they do not serve their signature beer at jim N nicks in denver, something about a dispute with the brewer. I believe it uses crystal hops, but other than that I am completely lost.
