    Any homebrewers in Alabama ?

I'm not in Huntsville, but if you look up your local welding supply store you'll probably find one that can help you. I bought a 5lb cylinder from mine, and when I run out I just go by and exchange it for a filled one. Costs around $15 for the swap.

    Best Grain Mill

I have a Monster Mill 2.0 with stainless rollers and hopper extension. It's complete and utter overkill, but it's built like a tank and I shouldn't have to worry about buying another grain mill anytime soon. It seems like pretty much any roller mill will do the trick, though. I didn't have much...

A few kegging questions regarding CO2

CO2 solubility is dependent on temperature and pressure. If your beer is cold, it will more readily absorb CO2. The inverse is true for warm beer. With regard to pressure, a warm beer at 30psi will have the same final volume of CO2 as a cold beer at, let's say, 8psi. So to answer your question...

    Over pitching yeast

According to MrMalty, you overpitched a bit, but I wouldn't say it was overly so. It sounds like you have a healthy fermentation going IMO. RDWHAHB

    Pressure dilemma !

I imagine it will take longer to carbonate at warmer temperatures if you just go by the chart and slow-carb. I haven't personally tried this warm, so I could be wrong, but I know CO2 is less soluble at warmer temps. When I carb in my kegerator, it takes around a week to get close to the correct...

    Pressure dilemma !

What temperature is your beer and what pressure are you set at? How long are your lines? Are you opening the tap all the way when you pour, or just partially? It is very strange that your beer is pouring fast even after venting all the pressure in the keg. If I vent all the pressure from one...

    Any homebrewers in Alabama ?

Rebel Brewer is based in Tennessee, and they have reasonable prices and shipping on most things. Everything I've ordered has been delivered to me in a day or two down in West Alabama.

    Blichmann Burner

I used to use aluminum foil as a heat shield for my ball valve, but I got tired of doing that. I removed the plastic cover from the handle and replaced it with a piece of silicone tubing. Works great, hasn't melted or burned, and keeps me from burning my hand on a hot valve handle.

    Blichmann Burner

I'll never miss the jet-engine roar of my cheap burner. I got a Blichmann with the legs and I've never once regretted it. It's very solidly built and looks good, too. My brew days are nice and peacefully quiet, and I can hold a normal conversation as if the burner wasn't even there. If you don't...

MrMalty. I don't really like him.

+1 You can't just pitch the yeast into a larger amount of starter wort and expect it to be a true 4L starter. You have to step up to keep the yeast active and reproducing. Look at it this way. If you could just pitch the yeast into a larger volume of wort and get the correct amount of...

    Beer from concentrate?

If I have to rehydrate said beer concentrate with river/lake/puddle water then forget it. I'd rather just bring whiskey or lug the regular beer in.
