    Using a kegerator outdoors

Anyone have any experience using a standard commercial kegerator outdoors? I just bought a Kegco and am now realizing for space issues it would be better on my covered, screened-in back porch... but not sure how well it will work given that the model is not specifically made for outdoors. And if...

    Calculating IBU

Was gonna put this in Brew Science, but it seemed too noob to. So my question regards what volume to use to find utilization while calculating IBU. And also can somewhat apply to calculating OG. The answer is easy and simple when doing All-Grain or if you boil all 5 gallons with an...

    Beer Resilience...

So I put a six pack of my bottled homebrew in my car to take to a friend (had already sat for 2 weeks in my house to carbonate), and I forgot about it and left it there for 2 weeks in the back seat of my car. The weather has been really cold somedays, and pretty warm others (i'm from MS). I...

I suck at figuring this crap out on my own...

pkeeler, you are correct. But a conversion I have often seen is that 1 lb of LME is equal to 0.89 lb of DME, to which I have applied the conversion in my word document on my home comp :)

    Irish Moss and mouthfeel

Will adding Irish Moss decrease the thickness of my beer's mouthfeel? I know that it acts by binding and precipitating out proteins to clarify. But since it is proteins that also add thickness to the texture, will this not also lessen the mouthfeel? The science seems to point this way, but...

I suck at figuring this crap out on my own...

Ok, I am going to use: Light DME for the Pale LME and I am going to use Extra Light DME for the Pilsner LME Speak now or I will forever hold you accountable for messing up my beer!!! ;)

I suck at figuring this crap out on my own...

This is the recipe I'm using, which has already been converted to Extract from AG. I'm also converting from LME to DME using the 0.89 formula. It says Pale LME... which I can't find https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f63/biermunchers-oktoberfast-ale-ag-39021/index2.html#post740744

Recipe calls for Pale malt but brewmasterswarehouse doesn't carry this. They have Light DME... would this work?

    Conversion Help!

Alright, I'm running a Mac so the beersmith program won't currently run on my OS. I was wondering if any of you kind, helpful, willing-to-waste-your-time-for-a-random-person, people out there would be willing to convert this recipe to Extract for me...

    Ale vs. Lager

Last question ha ha... So, I understand the purpose of lager yeast and ale yeast (no imparted flavor vs imparted flavor). But if that is what holds true for lager yeast and properly used temps (low 50's), then what about if you use a lager yeast at normal room temp? What exactly does this...
