    Michigan & Wisconsin Travel

Came accross this thread as I was searching for the regional forum for Wisconsin. Here is as good a place as any to thank the Milwaukee area beer community for some great beer! I'm from Baltimore and am in town for the week at a conference. So far I've had: New Glarus: Spotted Cow and Moon Man...

Add honey after 2 weeks in the Primary?

I didn't consider honey malt as I was looking for the honey to dry it out a bit.

Add honey after 2 weeks in the Primary?

Thanks for asking. After 4 days in primary the gravity was 1.012 (it started at 1.049) so I went ahead and added a pound of honey. I didn't see any reason to let it sit for two weeks as suggested above - perhaps I'm impatient! A week after the honey addition the hydrometer read 1.009. From what...

    ABV aftering adding honey post-fermentation

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Adding .006 to the OG makes perfect sense. I appreciate the feedback.

    ABV aftering adding honey post-fermentation

I'm looking for help calculating the abv in my latest brew. I brewed 5 gals of Kolsch almost two weeks ago and added honey after fermentation. Below are my readings, how would you calculate this? Is it as simple as adding together two percentages (4.8 + 1.2)? OG 1.049 Gravity after 4 days...

Simple question for my first batch

I've only been brewing for a couple of years and tend to have lots of questions like yours. Here's my two cents: I don't see the need to fear moving the beer to secondary. If I were you I would ferment in the bucket simply because there is more room (a five gallon carboy just seems too small...

Add honey after 2 weeks in the Primary?

I realize that this is an older post, but my questions about adding honey were all answered. I'm currently have a Kolsch in primary and plan to add in honey this weekend to dry it out. Thanks!
