    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

Just got finished putting another 5 gallon batch into the fermenter. The first time I made it, the only change I made to the recipe was that I initially only fermented 4 gallons (1 gallon wort and 3 gallons AJ), and I added the fourth gallon of AJ when I kegged. I kept the keg at 32F and...

American Amber Ale Caramel Amber Ale

Just finished brewing this one tonight. I had to make some changes out of necessity; I didn’t order enough hops. I did a 10 gallon batch and added an ounce of Chinook and Willamette at 60 min and an ounce of each at flame out. Should have ended up with 33 IBUs. It tasted more than bitter...

American Wheat Beer Litehaus Wheat (Boulevard Wheat Clone)

Just finished brewing this for the second time; no changes to the recipe. The first batch is nearly finished off; on keg 2 of 2 now. Thanks again for the great recipe.

American Wheat Beer Litehaus Wheat (Boulevard Wheat Clone)

Brewed this per the recipe, and let it ferment about two months at 60-65 F, and cold crashed. I kegged and tapped it about a week later (8 psi and 32 degrees). This beer was excellent. Very smooth/refined with a very slight balanced hint of sweetness/honey (nowhere as near as strong as rice...

American Wheat Beer American Wheat Beer - 2nd place Best of show - 2011 HBT BJCP competition

Very good American wheat beer. I brewed 10 gallons and fremented with us-05 at 65 degrees for ~30 days and the cold crashed. I kegged it (8 psi at 32 degrees) then drank it between 2-6 months old. I would brew again without any changes. Thanks for the recipe.

California FS-Blichmann 14 Gallon Conical Fermenter

Blichmann 14 gallon conical with tri clamp fittings for sale $575. Local pickup only in Bakersfield, CA. Overall condition is good (7/10 conservatively). No rust or damage on the conical, only normal wear and tear. The pressure relief weight does have some corrosion on the top only (sat in...

Who Sells 15 Gallon Ball Lock Kegs?

Too many parts to clean! Two valves, all the tri clamp fittings, seals, caps, weldless fittings, bits and pieces. It just adds more time and hassle to the brew day; it's a lot faster to clean a keg. The only exception may be a brewer's hardware conical with a CIP ball. I've thought about...

Who Sells 15 Gallon Ball Lock Kegs?

    Anyone come across any lately?

Who Sells 15 Gallon Ball Lock Kegs?

suprchunk, not a huge fan of the plastic or the valve. Looking for less stuff to clean. I already have a conical and its pita to clean with all the parts. Main reasons for going to kegs are that they are easy to clean, can be pressurized, and can do pressurized transfers by inserting the dip...

Who Sells 15 Gallon Ball Lock Kegs?

Does anyone know of any place that sells 15 gallon ball lock kegs that has them in stock? CHI - Out of stock due to a lid sealing problem. Adventures in Homebrewing - Out of stock with no anticipated in stock date. Corneykeg.com - Out of stock. Any others? Any feedback on their use as...

    Stainless conical fermenters

As a conical owner, I'd look for the one with the least amount of parts (less to clean) and triclamp fittings. I think my next conical will be a brewershardware conical.

Oldest vial used to make a starter?

3.5 year old slant of WLP029. 250mL starter stepped up to 2L after a few days. Pitched and all went well.

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

The keg was tapped early February. Still have some of this around and I'd say it's definitely gone down hill a bit. It tastes sweeter now, and I don't notice much of hop flavor now. Still drinkable, and I will brew again, but it's better fresher.

BG14 too big for direct fire mash tun?

I've got the same burner off of natural gas and have no problems direct firing the mash tun. There is 2.5-3 gallons (~2" of space) below my false bottom so that prevents anything from getting burnt. Also, I have the burner mounted lower on the mash tun than I do on the BK and HLT.

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

Brewed 10 gallons at the beginning of December and just tapped a keg today. It tastes great. Thanks for the recipe.

    Which Conical To buy?

I own a Blichmann with the tri clamp fittings, and have been thinking about buying another conical too. If I buy another one, I'd probably go with a Brewers Hardware conical. I pressurize my Blichmann for transfers.

    Mash tun insulation???

I just used regular spray adhesive. The jacket never gets that hot; I can always put my hand on it. The only part of the insulation that gets hot is the stuff on the very bottom that is exposed to the flame when I'm heating strike water with full flame. The clamps were welded to the jacket.

    Mash tun insulation???

The mineral wool is just glued to the jacket and the jacket is held in place by the two clamps seen on the front. I pull it off after I'm done brewing so I can clean the pot and not have to worry about getting the insulation wet. It also allows the insulation to dry if I spilt anything on...
