    My Keezer Build for Dummies

The 2x8's are to make sure the kegs on the ledge (over the compressor) fit. Otherwise the lid would hit the tops of those two kegs and potentially not close.

    My Keezer Build for Dummies

I used standard 2x8 building lumber from Lowes (which in my area is Southern Pine, I believe). The 2x8 is technicaly 1.5" thick. The oak will look good. I'm assuming it is less thick than my 2x8. If it is less than 1" thick, I would think about adding some insulation. You don't sound...

    My New Truck....

That is a good looking truck. I'm a Toyota man myself. I currently drive a 1996 Toyota T100 TRD 4x4, but if she ever craps out (never had a problem other than maintenance, knock on wood) I look forward to a Tacoma or Tundra. It's tough to find a vehicle that can run without any problems for...

    Kegerator Question?

You could easily fit 12 cornies in there! Probably more if you crammed them in. That's an awesome score. Do you know what kind of temperature range the thing has?

    Howdy from Houston

That's great news. I bought all my kegging stuff from him and he is a great guy. I actually saw him at a wine bar not too long ago (we were the only guys drinking beer in there) and he went out of his way to talk to me. He's good to work with. I'm a big fan of Defalco's too though and...

    Thanks Revvy

While we're bumping the thread, it's only fair to bump this picture as well.

    Beginner yeast curiosity

As you gain more experience, you will determine your own techniques. People are pretty opinionated on this subject. I would suggest trying a batch (preferably one you've made before) with a starter and seeing what you think. The problem is, there are lots of variables every time you brew...

    Irish Stout

Try posting your original question in the beginner's brewing section. A lot of the more experienced brewers respond there.

Is a 100 billion cell count lager yeast smack pack big enough to not us a starter?

I'm not sure that level of accuracy is required... I also like the thought of 0.989 cells (he's the runt of his litter). This is one of those arguments where convincing people to change is pretty tough. I've brewed great beers making starters, and I've brewed great beers without making...

    New Novice Member in Texas

Welcome from a fellow Texan! St. Arnold's lawnmower is one of my favorite beers as well. It is a Kolsch style, so you may want to try one of those. Here is a recipe.

    Show us your Kegerator

Collar and lid lift PROS: Keezer is less "deep" (which means easier to reach bottom for cleaning). Easier to lift in kegs due to less height. Don't have to lift kegs around taps and hoses. CONS: More difficult to build (especially if you are worried about being able to return the freezer...

    Hey from NC

I went to graduate school at NC State, my wife went to UNC Chapel Hill, and we lived in Durham. We covered the triangle pretty well. Welcome!

    Howdy

Welcome! I remember watching my first beer in the fermenter. The anticipation was incredible. You should do your next batch as soon as possible!

Help me plan my kegging/drinking schedule

I find that IPA's are better the earlier you drink them (within reason, I'm not talking about the second day of fermentation). A lot of people on here feel the same way. IPA's tend to lose their aroma hops pretty quickly. Enjoy your IPA in 2-3 weeks!

    Naming the Brewery

Man, now I really want to name my brewery Schnitzengiggle Brewcrafteryhaus (or biercrafteryhaus)...
