I know you said you like more piney/dank, but if you want to explore something more tropical this has been my favorite so far.

Your original post is one of the "so called" negatives of BIAB, a dirty wort.
All of my BIAB brews have a bigger than usual trub left behind in the fermenter. I believe it is just grain debri. It drops out, especially if you cold crash and get the cake nice and tight. My pale ales are crystal...
You will be fine.
Only thing I would have done differently is to shake up the carboy to help aerate stir in the yeast.
I rehydrate my yeast the way John Palmer described in a podcast. 2 cups water boiled and then cooled to 80ish. Sanitize a ziplock bag and add the water and sprinkle in the...
Don't forget to mash out by raising the temp to about 168 and holding it for about 10 mins. This really helps loosen the sugars and adds some more efficiency points.
As long as your beer is turning out good (not a high ferm temp problem etc). There is nothing wrong with this.
Could be that you are pitching the 'correct' amount of yeast, well aerated and ready to go compared to your friends.
After cleaning up some messy explosions from stuck air locks...
You will need a separate temp controller to actually power on the fridge/freezer, if you want to have any fine control.
Search the keezer threads and the eBay aquarium temp controller.
Now take your lazy to the next level.
Ditch the mash tun and drop your grains into a large bag and mash in your boil pot.
With beers lower than 1.055 I get about 85% efficiency and just have to rinse out the bag.
In Beersmith, what was the specified efficiency for the recipe? This is what the pre-boil computation is based on. Lower gravity beers like this give me about 85% efficiency without trying, using BIAB.
By adding late you will get higher hop bittering utilization.
Also, I feel that the 60 mins tends to cause a melanoiden(SP?) reaction. Which causes a carmalized, fuller bodied, darker beer.
