I brewed the cherry stout kit from Northern Brewer a while ago. It was a good beer so I ordered the PM kit a second time but decided to use Oregon cherry puree this time. How much of the 3 pounds of puree should I add to my 5 gallon batch in the secondary?
Have any of you ever seen this beer in the U.S.? A friend of mine swears this is the best Pils he has ever had. I would love a case for a taste test.

Another question about the Lager I have in the Primary. How long should I leave it in the primary? I brewed on Oct. 14 and this Sat. will be 14 days. Should I rack on Sat.?
There is a thin layer of Krausen, just enough so you cant see through it, on the top of the brew. Should I stir it and raise the temp to see if the Krausen gets thicker?
Or should I just leave it alone and let it work. I brewed on 10/14/2006.
I brewed a Pilsner last week. I pitched the yeast (Wyeast Y2278) at 70 F then put it into the cooler set at 55 F.
After the fact I read somewhere that with a Lager you should pitch the yeast at 70 and let it sit for 48 hours then move it to the chiller. Will my beer have off flavors with the...
I brewed today and one yellow jacket made its way into my brewpot. I made my first AG Pilsner today. I just bought a Ranco temp control and it works great. Ill let you know how it turns out.
I brewed this Northern Brewer kit on 7/8/06. The OG was 1.081. Now ten days later, I still have about 1/8"-1/4" Krausen on top of the beer and a bubble every three seconds in the airlock. Should I go ahead and rack it to secondary now to get it off the yeast cake or wait a day or two...
I have read in these forums that using DME insted of Priming sugar produces a better beer. One should use 1.5 cups of DME in 2 cups of water and it should be boiled for 15 minutes then cooled before adding the mixture to the priming bucket.
What type of DME should be used? Do you match the...
Please Explain:
Full boil with late extract addition: What are the advantages? How late is the extract added to the boil?
First wort hopping (flavor added to the steep.) Does this work with all beer styles or only certain beer styles?
If I am using a yeast smack pack should I still...
Thanks for the info. I had planned on using the cherry flavor with caution.
I do not want five gal of cough syrup.
I brewed this beer tonight. I used the mini mash suggestion above now the wait is on.
Thanks Mykel. I'll try the mini mash method. I have a grain bag so the procedure you mentioned sounds easy enough. BTW I am looking forward to AG brewing in the future. :mug:
This kit will be my first experience with crushed grains and a full 5 gal boil. Should I steep at 150 f or just put them into my pot and heat it until 170 f and remove them? I use an outside burner (30K BTU) and it heats much faster than my stove.
Suggetions are welcome.
