5 gal to 10 gal conversion

Ok I have a question regarding making a wit beer. I made a 5 gal batch and like it enough to brew it again, but I now have the capacity to brew 10 gal batches. My question is when it comes to spices (i.e. Coriander) do I just double that amount? I ask because I've read that making some food...

    Grain mill comparison

Hello everyone, I’m looking at purchasing a grain mill in the near future but I’m undecided which one to get. I’m going to steer clear of the Corona style mills for the reason that they are more likely to damage the husks. The three mills I’m looking at right now are the Crankandstein mill...

    Souring Guinness

Hey I was looking at making a clone on here and one step is to sour 24oz of Guinness on the counter for 5 days. Now I put this on the counter 10 days ago and noticed a white film on top of it. Should I throw this out or can I still boil this and add it to the pot or will this infect my beer...

    Secondary Temp

Hello all, I was wondering if it would be bad to leave my beer in the secondary fermenter out in my garage? The temperature in my garage ranges from 68 deg F to 85 deg F. Will this cause any off flavours? The primary fermentation took 11 days. Thanks.

    Ontario, Canada grain stores

Wow, I was just online today to purchase some grain and found that mashingheads.com is closed and expertbrewers.com has absolutley no product. I know about homebrew-supplies.ca, but the other two sites were cheaper. I've sent emails to both closed places and will let you know my findings...

    Any problem with this?

I’ve just finished mashing and pitched some German ale yeast slurry that was in my fridge from a batch I finished fermenting back in February. I used the Mr.Malty calculator and it said to use 230ml of slurry, but I only had roughly 75ml of slurry. I figured I’d try it out as I didn’t have any...

Hey guys, I was just looking through some recipes for my next batch and noticed something. Some call for a 60 min boil time and some call for a 90 min boil time. On the 90 minute boil time do you still follow the hop addition schedule for the 60 minute boil as in boil for 30 minutes then add...
