First 10 gallon batch tell me your mistake so I don't make it too

You can always add LME/DME to the boil if you run out of space in the mash tun and want more alcohol.

e-Brewery Control Panel Project/Conversion from Propane to Electric

I would go with as much power as you can afford. That being said, a 30A circuit can run two 5000 Watt elements with ease. Running three would be an issue. So, if you have two 5000 watt elements and want to run them at the same tiime without fear of a meltdown, get the 50A wiring and circuit...

    Pro & Cons of Conicals

The thing about conicals is the fact you can get the dead yeast off the trub and avoid off-flavors dead yeast can give. A SS conical will last a lifetime unless you purposely drop it. If I were to recommend ONE single item in a brewery, it would be an SS conical. Nothing else compares to the...

How long do your 5 gal batches last?

I end up with about 40 pints for every 5 gallons. Mas o menos.

    Is keezer cycling too much?

A full Freezer or Fridge will always stay colder longer because the contents act as storage for cold. This is especially true with liquids. Once a liquid gets cold, it will stay cold for quite a long time. I think you should set a larger differential on your Thermostat. Set it to 3 because...

    AG to Extract question

I think you mean "steep", right? I don't see how you could steep the Biscuit, so I suggest doing a partial mash. Get 3 lbs of DME light or Muttons Light Dry Malt for the base. Then partial mash all the other grains. If you are unable to partial mash, then I wouldn't recommend this...

    SG and other questions.

Panicbutton is a good handle for you! LOL! As I was reading these things, I realized that you may be over-correcting. It may seem that you are doing the same thing, but in reality you aren't. (One thing I did want to mention is that you can oversparge. This leads to extracting too...

    hot spots in mash

I don't think you need to worry. These readings are well within acceptable limits. You should see no significant change in mash profile.

    hot spots in mash

It is possible to get a slight increase in temps if the lid is on because the steam creates some pressure. That could cause a rise of 1-2 degrees on the surface of the mash.

    Pasteurisation using solar

I also hope you don't use this to pasteurize beer.

    Pasteurisation using solar

I would suggest parabolic mirrors. There is a site here in the states that has plans where you use a satellite dish (the small kind) and you could melt concrete with that beam. Here is a link: http://greenpowerscience.com/PARABOLICMIRROR.html

    Beersmith ferm profile

I never secondary ferment. Not many people I know do this any more. I also use a conical fermenter, so what's the point of secondary again? I also never go by the amount of time in fermentation. I use the gravity readings to determine when fermentation is over. Once the gravity hits the...

    Hello from Illinois

Skunky beer? Do you have the equipment to hold a lager to the desired temp? If so, no big deal. I advise going with a Bavarian or Czech Pils. They really are crisp and full of flavor.

    SG and other questions.

It appears to me that you are lacking consistency in the way you brewed each beer. This makes it pretty difficult to determine what could be done if things aren't being done exactly the same way each time. Of course adding water either sparging or just adding to the final amount would have a...
