    Pitched 2 different yeasts

Thanks all! I was thinking about putting 10-15# of strawberries in the secondary - any thoughts on if this should be omitted given this error in order to not achieve the full 18% (with 1.108 I should get around 15%).

my 22" kegs have the rubber top and both handles... they look just like your average corney - just a lil shorter and fatter

    Summit SBC-500B Kegerator

my kegerator (diff kind) can only fit 2 25" corneys because of the hump. But I picked up 2 22" corneys (had to buy them new) and they fit great in the back, under the hump! might be worth looking into

    ever had an allergic reaction.

I once had a roomate that was allergic to the Iodine I used to clean equipment and bottles. I always took extra care to dry my bottles after soaking them before bottling... perhaps something along these lines?

Controllong how much people drink from a kegerator

Set out some disposable plastic shot glasses with a signs inviting them to try it, making sure they know it's homebrew. It keeps it positive and inviting but still ensures that if they draw a full glass they are probably fans. I like the idea also of using smaller glasses in general to ensure...

    getting ready to try cider!

I would think that boiling it would cause a loss in some flavors. also, pasturization doesnt necessarily require boiling, something to keep in mind. If it came from the store pasturized and isnt past its due date I would use it as is. But I havent really done this before, this is mearly what I...

    getting ready to try cider!

Hey everyone, I am getting ready to brew a batch of cider. I want to do something really simple. Is it possible to just get juice and add yeast? Also, what kind of yeast will give me a "dry cider." I am a fan of Wyders Cider, if anyone has ever tried it. Could someone please point me in the...

Boohoo!!!! IIPA too bitter to drink :(

a brew of that abv should age longer than a week before it really comes into its own. Also, aging will help mellow the hop flavor. I wouldent dumpster it just yet, put it aside for 2 months, then give it another try... Or you can send it to me!

    Primary to secondary Racking ?s

Yeah, thats what I would do. Some fermenters have a spigot, but you will have a lot more control of the transfer with a siphon (i.e. pull less trub over).

    Priming?

I boiled up 3/4 cup corn syrup with some water, I am just hoping this isnt much higher in sugar content than corn sugar (even as i write this i cant help but think this is a ridiculous statment). eeek

    Priming?

So I just went looking around at recepies and cant actually find any that prime with corn syrup, they all prime with corn sugar (whoops). Am I totally screwed?

    Priming?

Hey all, quick question about priming: I know generally 3/4 cup of corn syrup is recommended for priming for bottling. What is the equivilant if I was to use light DME? Thanks!

    Getting darker in secondary... Infection?

When I rack over to a secondary, i frequently notice a color change (even light to dark). This could be from a lot of the suspended particles (which may be lighter colored) dropping out of solution or suspension, making the beer darker. I have a red ale in secondary where I saw this happen...

    1st Brew

Large amounts of sedimentation wont hurt your brew, you should be fine! It is a process that will develop over time, all the little ways to minimise the trub that goes into the carboy. I, by no means, am free of junk at the bottom of my primarys, and have made some darn drinkable homebrews. I...

Is that a Lagunitas in your pocket?...

There is a bar in town here (I am about 15 minutes for the Lagunitas brewery) that only sells Lagunitas. Needless to say its a fav. spot of mine. I cant get enough of the Lagunitas IPA, but a great one to try is Lagunitas' Brown Shugga if you can get your hands on it. It is a seasonal brew of...

Hi, I've heard a lot about krausen, would someone mind showing it to me. I think its the stuff pictured below. Is there a difference between the right and left side of foam? or is it just the wort being suspended in the bubbling. THanks for all the help! and I would appriciate no comments...
