    Dry lager yeast: should I make a starter?

    I do yeast starters with Dry Yeast, but use 1/4 tsp of dry yeast into 1 litre wort, that way my packet of yeast lasts a long time. Just reseal the packet with tape. Been doing it for years.

    Coopers european lager kit

    Yes you can leave it in the FV for a month if the temps are low. Coopers Euro Lager uses a true lager yeast. For best results ferment under 10 C. Can you put the FV into a fridge?

    Hi BigEd Your right. I came across a recipe that was 4 lbs 2 row malt and 4 lbs rice hulls. That's 50 % of the grain bill. I think I do not need the rice anyway. I've got plenty in it to get to 4% ABV. Thanks

    It's New Zealand Pale Malt, I assume it's 2 row. Asking as I've read from differing sources, some say use between 5-10% and others say 20%. If I mash at the low temp (152F) and longer would the conversion for rice improve or is it the limit of enzymes in the base malt that matters?

    It is recommended to use 3/4 of cup to prime 5gal US of beer. I also read that 8g per litre is also the recommend primimg rate. 8g by 19 litres is 152 grams. When I weight out 152 grams of dextrose that came to 1.5 cups(UK)? That's twice the recommend 3/4 cup! If I use the 8g per litre...
