Munich Helles 2011 1st Place HBT- Light lager- Augustiner Lagerbier Hell

I've no great experience with biscuit malt, but flavor/aroma profile is different to me than melanoidin malt. Biscuit is called biscuit for obvious reasons. I've used in in ESB's to try and give it a little twist. Melanoidin, to me, gives a beer that undefinable extra bit of malty goodness...

Examining possible solutions to issue of sulfur smell from Perlick 650ss faucets

For the sake of the research, my 4 650SS's are all A0215G, and I have not had the sulphur problem described in this thread. Your efforts are appreciated.

What is the best tap for my keezer?

+1 for the 650SS. What I appreciate most is not having to worry about length of hoses or serving pressure. I just dial in the flow rate to get the perfect pour, and that it's it. Set it and forget it. :) Easy to keep clean and forgiving if I forget to clean. I'm glad I spent the extra money...

    Tart Cherry Concentrate

According to this website http://www.cooksinfo.com/cherries one pound of fresh sour cherries = 80 cherries. I have a bottle of Dynamic Health Organic Tart Cherry Juice concentrate. It says that 2 tbs (30 ml) = 80 cherries. So it's safe to say (in my case anyway) that 10 tbs of tart cherry...

German Pils Gavin's Glorious German Pilsner

Thanks for the thorough and good write up on your recipe! It looks simple and delicious. And congrats on the 1st place. I'll have to put this one in the queue. :mug:

Munich Helles 2011 1st Place HBT- Light lager- Augustiner Lagerbier Hell

I think carbing and lagering at the same time is fine. I've never noticed any difference, but YMMV. Everything looks good to me. Should turn out great. Though on the D-rest, that's a variable. If you don't detect diacetyl then you don't really need to do one, but if you have some, let it...

    Pizza Port Swami's Recipe?

Strangely, I bought a can of Swami's IPA the day this was originally posted. My local Trader Joe's sells them in individual cans, and I grabbed one just to try. I just tried it. Yum, Frickin', yum!!! In the initial whiff, I got mostly cascade, then pineapple, then mosciac (probably wrong...

Munich Helles 2011 1st Place HBT- Light lager- Augustiner Lagerbier Hell

I'm pretty sure either will be fine, but you're right in picking the dark Munich I to match the original recipe's color. So, if you think you want your beer lighter in color, go with the second option above. As for the melanoiden malt, I love a malty beer. Melanoiden adds that little...

Munich Helles 2011 1st Place HBT- Light lager- Augustiner Lagerbier Hell

I've only brewed this once, so please don't consider that I'm an expert or anything. I just wanted to respond so you have at least some feed back and encourage you to go for it, because I really loved this beer! Yes, all in the same fermentor until kegging is just fine. The only time I use...

    3D Printed Stir Plate Build

I love the magnet holder! That solves a lot of tedious work trying to balance the magnets to get a wobble free spin. It a much more elegant solution to what I did. :)

No, you don't have to drill into your upright freezer.

Nice idea! Thanks for sharing it. :mug:

    Fermentation temperature

I made my own thermowells from stainless steel tubing picked up from my local Ace Hardware store. I cut the tube in half, pinched one end closed and soldered it shut. Now I have two 18 inch thermowells for around $12 or so. (Can't remember the exact price.) There are stainless steel soldering...

    Kegging Kombucha

What hunter said...kombucha does better with a loose fitting lid, from my experience. As for the BMB being fragile...could be. But outside of a 30 L stainless steel Fusti ($50 more), the glass 6.5 gal BMB seems to fit the bill for 5 gallon kombucha corny keg filling.

    The best bottles for bottling.

I like Guinness stout bottles with the nitro thingy in them. The plastic cover cuts off, so no soaking and messy peeling. The nitro thingy is easily extracted with a pair of needle nosed piers. I've never had any problems capped then either.

That looks wonderful. I may have to give this recipe a go. [emoji106]🏼

    Kegging Kombucha

I think I'm going with this: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00W3PYBMS/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 I like glass for fermenting kombucha, and this one has a wide mouth to make it easier to clean 'buch crud out. The six and half gallon size should allow enough space for a big, healthy SCOBY and...

Looking for sorghum free extract recipes.

I've found Glutenburg in a couple of places you might have access to: Whole Foods and World Market (formerly Cost Plus Warehouse). Good luck. And to the OP, just in case you missed the GF recipe section of this forum, here you go https://www.homebrewtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=240

Can't wait to see how this turns out!

+1 on mattdee's thoughts. I have a rectangular Coleman extreme with a single braided line in it. It floats around and it has a couple crushed spots in it from years of abuse. I consistently get 77% efficiency no matter what's going on with my braided manifold. That's my experience. YMMV.

First all grain brew day! (And first brew ever!)

The biggest piece of advice that I can impart to you, and the one that when I haven't followed it has drastically altered the beer, is DON'T DRINK TOO MUCH while making your beer. I can't tell you the number of silly mistakes I've made because I was too buzzed. [emoji53]
