    I trust you H. Brewers...

Sounds like they're alive and well.:mug: Mayhaps I just need to pay closer attention. Brew-on! neighbor.

    I trust you H. Brewers...

Should a starter show signs of life in less than 12hrs? I'm not sure mine have, though I have only made a few. Regardless, it makes sense to pitch a young starter rather than just rely on a single vial/pack. Thank goodness for extra runnings.

    Propane Burner Question

This may not be relevant to you but I have had experiences where the sequence of connecting the hose and opening the valves messes with the proper flow of the fuel. Not sure how or why. It tends to work correctly when I close both of the valves (tank & regulator), disconnect the hose and let it...

    Worn Corona plates.

I picked up another corona mill but the plates show significant wear. Many of the ridges have been flattened. I haven't used it yet but I'm wondering if the wear will screw-up a proper grind? Anybody have experience with worn plates? Anybody know where to get replacement plates? Thanks for...

My handblown Glass for your equipment....

I think you've tapped a whole new market here andynaj. The hop cones are excellent. I can imagine a goblet based on the hop cone theme. Wish i had some stuff to trade but I'm still collecting. Good luck and brew sooner than later.

no bitterness after boiling in a hop bag

The bag works fine for me, or so it seems. My method is derived from someone(?) here. I clamp half of a 5gal paint strainer bag to the kettle edge and then, every so often, stir the hops in the bag with a big spoon. Add hops; stir; add hops; stir....and so on. No way to check utilization but it...

Moved to Eugene, it's been hard to get back......

I think Eugene's water is similarly soft (very) to Springfield. The Spfld. watermaster told me they do not use chloramines, only chlorine. Don't know about Eugene. I have been letting the water degas overnight and using it straight for lighter colored beers (maybe add a little gypsum to the...

My friends don't care for my homebrew

You don't need new friends, just brew a Kölsch. After three batches, I still get the same appreciative comments. I actually believe they like it :), and that's quite rewarding.

50' or 25' immersion for 5 gal batches?

I built a 50' x 1/2" for my 5gal batches. It does work great but it is a couple of coils taller than my typical 5gals. Mine was wound close to 13" in diameter and will have to be modified to work in my forthcoming 15.5gal keg conversion. I tend to agree that "bigger is better" when it comes to...

Names of some horrible movies needed

Liquid Sky or Eraserhead, though I'm not sure they are actually worth watching. Mad Max movies after The Road Warrior might work.

Gallon markings for 7 gallon plastic primary fermenter

IT MAY BE WRONG but I think I have read that the lowest ring from the top of the bucket often marks the size of the bucket as marketed. Not sure it really matters since you hit your OG, just measure next time.

    Where do you buy Oxi-clean?

At the dollar store I buy "LA's Totally Awesome Power Oxygen Base Cleaner Chlorine Free" Made in USA. $1/lb. Works great.

    Coleman Xtreme too much?

My 5-6gal batches have been totally doable, convenient and effective in this cooler. You may not want to add water that is too much more than 185*F as my xstream seems to have warped during my first AG attempts with the use of 190*+ 'preheat' water. Still works though.

    Help with my stir plate

I used a Radio Shak variable voltage power supply 1.5v - 12v. It sure made the project easier and I'm not sure i would have been successful without it.

    Best Hangover Cures?

Water and aspirin to prevent. Potato soup, sausage, coffee, water and hair-o-the-dog to cure(sorta).

    Help with my stir plate

When i was building the plate all I had was some of these magnets 8mm x 1mm They allowed me to determine the right length of bar to use. They appear to rust so i have not used them in a starter yet. I am thinking about coating the 'bar' with food grade silicone. The o-rings just go on the bar...

    Help with my stir plate

I put my stirbar in a cereal bowl and manually raised or lowered the bowl over the striplate untill I got action I liked. I still couldn't get it to spin though. Then I added two of the dip tube o-rings to my homemade stirbar and off she went.

    Rate my grind

I added another pic to the OP. I agree, it does look a little bit course......I can fix that.

    Rate my grind

It looked pretty good when i was grinding but the full bowl does seem to have a lot of course ground husks sitting on top. I think it is a finer grind than the LHBS so I'm hoping to get over 70% eff. with this.:ban: If I don't get a stuck runoff I'll crank 'er down some more. Thanks for the pic...
