    wow, what a disaster

So I was getting ready to bottle my second batch, an irish stout. I had siphoned about 2 gallons into the bottling bucket when I realized I had forgotten to add the priming sugar. So I pull the siphon tube out of the bottling bucket and sort of hang it over the side of the primary while I go...

    newbie question

I had an idea and I wondered if anyone has ever tried this. Since it seems that most flavorings are added to the secondary when making mead, is it possible to experiment with recipes by buying a bottle of plain mead at the store and adding flavorings in order to pin down the amounts before you...

    should I add water

thanks for the advice, everyone. Next time I will definitely be more careful. The good news is that I took a taste and it seemed pretty good to me. I may or may not add a little extra water when I add the priming sugar, haven't decided yet, but I feel like its gonna turn out pretty tasty...

    should I add water

I haven't tasted it yet, but I imagine when I do I won't learn much because I don't really know what a green, uncarbonated stout should taste like. I guess I'm ok with just leaving it as is and maybe getting an extra strong beer, but do you guys have any idea how this might have happened...

    aging apfelwein

So you think that oxidation would be an issue if I kept in in the plastic bucket for 1-2 months? I should mention that this is an "ale pail" which came with a brewing kit, so I would think that the plastic its made of would be just as good as the plastic in a better bottle carboy.

    aging apfelwein

Hi everyone, I started my first apfelwein about a week ago and I have a question about aging it. It is currently fermenting in a plastic bucket. I gather that it needs to stay in primary for at least a month but the longer the better. My question is, will I get the same results if I bottle...
