    Replacement O-Rings for mini regulator

Hi all, I got a cheap mini keg from Vevor.com. I think the mini regulator has a leak, because it eats up 16g threaded CO2 cartridges like crazy. Does anyone know where to get replacement O-Rings? I tried the Vevor support email already. They don't seem to understand. Thanks!

    Tap-a-Draft Head

I still use TAD for keeping kombucha on tap. Works great for that. Unfortunately, something inside the CO2 tube broke. I can't find them anywhere online. Anyone got one of the black flavor for 16g cartridges? Alternatively, can anyone suggest an alternative? I didn't want to spend a whole lot...

    Fruit Vinegar?

Hope this is the correct forum for this kind of post - it seemed like the best fit. I recently sampled a few fruit-based vinegars at a specialty oil and vinegar store. I was blown away at how fruity and delicious they were. I thought, "I've got to add this to my hobby of fermenting things!"...

    Stevia and fruit flavors

I saw this coconut rum flavored tea on Amazon, and it sounds pretty tasty. http://www.amazon.com/Zhenas-Gypsy-Tea-Coconut-Tropical/dp/B0021GUBJ6?ie=UTF8&keywords=coconut%20tea&qid=1463973584&ref_=sr_1_6_a_it&sr=8-6 The ingredients list stevia and natural pineapple and coconut flavors...

    Diaper pail smell?

I've been doing kombucha for a while now, and it usually turns out quite well. However, sometimes it ends up with a smell that can only be described as "diaper pail". Yuck! Anyone else had this experience? Is it the scoby? Infection from some nasty strain of bacteria? Age of scoby? Mine...

    Carbonation Caps + Tap-a-Draft

William's Brewing recently started selling these Carbonation Caps that fit Tap-a-Draft bottles. Normally, you naturally carb in the bottles, unless you want to go through a bunch (I would assume) of CO2 cartridges to force carb via the tap head. I was wondering if anyone has used these carb...

Suggestions for keeping BIAB bag off bottom?

My kettle is approximately 16" inner diameter at the bottom. I have done a lot of searching on Amazon, restaurant supply sites, etc. for a round rack that would keep my brew bag off the bottom of the kettle. I haven't really found anything that looks like a good solution. Anybody have...

    Bad advice?

Hi, beer brewer straying from home territory here. :) I just bottled my second batch of EdWort's Apfelwein. My first batch was primed and bottled in 750ml cider bottles. I just used my capper for those. On this batch, I decided to try bottling some of it still. I had 8 wine bottles saved...

    Wish I had known...

Just bottled Batch #3 tonight -- El Jefe Weizen. I brewed it after I discovered that my local Albertson's carries Paulaner Hefe-Weizen, which I promptly fell in love with. It is freakin' good. As a bonus, the bottles are a different shape and hold 16 ounces instead of 12! I thought it would...

    Top vs. Bottom

Help me make the call on this hydrometer reading. It's at 60F, and I'm going to say 1.048. However, I can't get rid of all the bubbles at the top of the jar. I spun the hydrometer to get rid of any bubbles underneath it. Do the ones at the top interfere with your reading, or are they just a...

    A couple quick questions

I'll take it easy on you with my noobness by answering my own questions... just looking for some confirmation that I've got things figured correctly. :) Q1. Even after pouring my wort through a strainer, there's lots of stuff that gets through into the fermenter bucket. I know this won't...

    A great 2nd brew weekend!

First, started drinking my first batch - a brown ale recipe from the LHBS owner Then SWMBO and I brewed an APA for her birthday next month... still waiting for it to bubble, but being patient. It's only been 2 days. And finally, I mixed up my first batch of the ubiquitous EdWort's...

    Check my math?

Howdy, Got my first batch in the fermenter. Can't wait 'til it's ready to drink! Got a quick question for everybody. I've seen this explained several ways, so I want to make sure I understand what I'm shooting for. I measured an OG of 1.047 before I pitched my yeasties (WLP005). The...

    Temp. Comp.

Found this on the wiki: But what if the temp. was 68dF? Adjust +0.001 because it's closer to 70dF? I took a reading of 1.047. Also, does it matter that I got a bunch of "crumbs" (bits of the steeping grain that were small enough to escape the mesh bag) in the cylinder? They settled to...

    P.O.'d :)

I scrubbed out my friggin' 'uge 15-gallon kettle last night, filled it about 2/3 full with water, and cranked up the outdoor burner. It took about an hour to reach boiling. The strange thing is, I went to check it after about 45 minutes, and it wasn't boiling as much, even though the flames...

    Oregon's Willamette Valley

Hi! Nice to see so much activity on this site! I hope I'll be able to make my own beer and have it stack up against some of the awesome micros available in the Pacific NW! :)

Brewing outside - What about airborne contaminants?

Hi all, I continue to be impressed with the knowledge and quick response of all the helpful people on this site! Noobs everywhere appreciate it! :) In the "I hope there are no stupid questions" category... I have ordered my brewery kit from williamsbrewing.com (YAY!) and need to get...

    Use of ice?

Hi again, Got a lot of responses to my first post, and quickly! This is a great site! Here's another question: I am a fan of Alton Brown's show, "Good Eats," on the Food Network. He seems to have a very practical approach to everything he does. In the episode titled "Amber Waves," he...

    Why no spigot on primary?

Hi all, I'm looking for a starter kit to help me jump into the world of homebrewing. It seems like all the 2-bucket systems I have seen only have a spigot on the bottling bucket. Why is there no spigot on the primary fermenter? I have read "Homebrewing for Dummies" and the author...
