    Wild Yeast Harvesting

Bourbon distillers in Kentucky use to do similar things in the fall. I'd suggest a cheese cloth to keep the flies and other large bugs out if you aim for version 2... The bourbon/whiskey crowd typically used a wort as opposed to fruit or water i believe. Good luck! Sent from my iPad using...

HELP WANTED: Brew Stand Up Issues

I think the temp probe placement is your problem. 1 temp prob should be in the MLT outlet, the other should be in the HLT outlet. Your PID should be controlling the heating element in the HLT. The temp probe on the MLT is really only there to monitor the temperature to ensure it is responding...

HELP WANTED: Brew Stand Up Issues

If I were to guess from your pictures and problems, I'd guess that you are struggling to get your Mash Temps to match the settings of your HLT?? I think the addition of a second pump to recirc your HLT water will help drastically. Usually the recirculating Mash in the heat exchanger removes...

Conceptual Lagering Tank - Need Feedback!

Your concept would work I believe. Search the forum for folks that have created fermentation chillers and you'll see and read that water reservoirs inside refrigerators don't effectively remove heat from water baths. Another thought to simplify your set up; put your fermenter tub above your...

    3d Printed Tap Handles

Nice work! Apparently no one on here likes 3D printing. The possibilities with these devices seem endless. Do you have future projects you are working on? What would you estimate the cost is to enter the 3D printer market?

    Urgent advice needed

What is your fermentation temp? Too warm and the yeast go crazy. It seems cool but they will produce excessive esters that will create off flavors... Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

    My brew-stand

I think it's mostly an aesthetics thing. Thanks for the picture and description of the setup. I do like your idea of a cam lock to get the hose out of the way for cleaning. Since I am planning to tig weld everything, here is what I am thinking. Weld a half coupler to the exterior of the keg...

looking for ideas/examples of through the wall taps

Welcome back! Maybe a bit boring but how about coming through wall below the counter and placing a tap tower and drip tray. If you have a full depth counter (25"), I think it could be awkward to reach for tap handles mounted to the wall, but that seems like the second obvious option

    Keggle anyone?

Bad Great idea for the back purge. I've seen folks use the sintered bronze vent fittings to act as a diffuser for back shielding. Aluminum foil works well for piping. You always need a vent to prevent the pressure from creating a weld blow out. Argon is heavier than oxygen, so you can use...

    O-ring size for Sanke/Triclover

The 1sided flat gaskets on the keg outlet work great with a 2" triclover flange and clamp

    What should I buy next?

+2 on the temp control for fermentation.

    Monster mill for cracking corn?

Grinding a different grain is against the rules?!?! To the OP, there is also a revised Monster Mill with a larger gap setting (and a different style adjuster vs what they previously offered) - http://www.monsterbrewinghardware.com/mm-220.html

    Monster mill for cracking corn?

I attempted this today to see if a standard 2 roller mill would crack corn... The largest gap setting on my machine was 0.100" and it was not large enough to bite the corn. I recently saw a link to a crankandstein mill for coarser crushing -...

    India Pale Lager Recommendation Needed

So a friend who enjoys my homebrew has made a special request... an IPL. I did a search of the extract forum and didn't find anything. Has anyone tried this with an extract kit?? Regular IPA kit combined with a lager yeast??? Looking for some suggestions on kits, yeast, lager temps, process...

My insane 25 Gal, 100 Percent Hard Plumbed Tri-Clover, Automated Tippy Build

Kickflip Do us all a favor and use a proper jack stand next time you are working under your truck. It would be a shame to see something silly happen that prevents you from finishing your sweet build. Nice d'max too, I just got one myself... Happy building and brewing!

    Aluminum SCUBA tank Conical?

Oh... And you'd have to get creative when it runs dry and it needs to be cleaned!! I think it really comes down to how much you are willing to modify them. In their current condition, your options are very limited IMO. Keep us posted on what you decide!!
