    Love Controller Probe

Any benefit of going with the SS cap (TS-2) on the love probe vs the standard brass cap (TS-1) for a TS-13010? It's for a single tier brew stand and since it's going to be in a thermowell, I can't see it really making a difference, but thought I'd ask. Thanks!

My new brew system, a brutus 10 with some nice modifications

For the Honeywell, does it matter whether you use the wiring terminals or the screws? It looks like Josh used the terminals but it seems like you could use either... Also, has is it correct that the hot from the Love/PID should go to the TR and the wire from the transformer should go to TH?

    Understanding Brett flavors

This is a fantastic read. I'm not a chemist but still managed to put together more of an understanding of the workings of Brett than in months of other reading. Thanks Chad!

    Brutus Wiring Plans

Not yet. Holidays got the best of me and haven't started yet. Going to give onehoppyguy a call to see if my idea is way off base. Hope to have it up by the end of the month. Will post pics the.

    Brutus Wiring Plans

After much time trying to figure out how each component of my build should be wired, I think (hope) I finally have it figured out. Below is a diagram I put together for a system that will be using two Love TS controllers with Honeywell 8200A valves and Little Giant pumps. I'm also including a...

My new brew system, a brutus 10 with some nice modifications

Josh - perhaps an obvious answer, but did you just solder the 24V honeywell wires together in the DC power jacks? I picked up the same jacks from Radio shack. Thanks!

Save the Beer! Over Attenuated Dead Guy AG Clone

Wait until it is carbonated and chilled before deciding it is thin. It generally tastes watery and bitter when it's warm and flat.

This may be a stupid idea...

Not sure it's that stupid. 21A seems to do quite well with their "Hell or High Watermellon" wheat beer during the warm months. Pretty sure they add actual watermellon to it, too. Not sure whether they supplement with extract.

    WLP028/Wyeast 1728 Fermentation Temps

That would make sense. Out of curiousity, is that based on personal experience or something from Wyeast/WL? From searching the web, it seems that people anecdotally say that 1728 has a slight smokiness that's lacking in WLP028, but that WLP028 attenuantes more. But based on Mr. Malty, many...

    WLP028/Wyeast 1728 Fermentation Temps

Awesome. Thanks! Figured that it was strange that White Labs had such a low temp limit on the strain compared to Wyeast given that it is typically fermented low. Guessing it's to ensure a faster fermentation so people avoid bottling/racking before the yeast is done. Given that I plan on...

    WLP028/Wyeast 1728 Fermentation Temps

Going to make a Wee Heavy this weekend and am planning on pitching a starter of WLP028. White Labs notes that this yeast doesn't ferment well below 62* with ideal temps between 65-70; however, Wyeast says that the ideal fermentation temp for 1728, which I understand to be the same strain, is...

Best yeast for a Russian Imperial Stout

I've always used WLP007. Good alcohol tolerance of the strain means it doesn't crap out on the higher ABV versions.

60s music while brewing - Awesome

That's awesome. I've also found the love of brewin' to the oldies. (just turned 30) Something about that era that's so relaxing to have a beer and brew some beer!

    WLP007 Cottage Cheese Starter

It's one of the chunkiest yeasts I've used. Drops clear as anything once it's done fermenting, though.

    Pilot Tubing to Valve

I'm using the Honeywell 8200A furnace valve and Honeywell 314A pilot light for my brewstand. What are people using to connect the pilot tubing to the valve? The pilot came with a 3/8" bolt with compression fitting that fits the 1/4" tubing - seems like the same thing would work for the valve...

Washed wlp007 won't seperate from Trub - advice needed

I've never been able to really wash WLP007. My best technique involves limiting the amount of trub into the fermenter if I'm going to wash it. Otherwise, that trub is going right back in the next batch because it's impossible to seperate.
