    Using Jelly in Beer

Their are wines that have been made with jellies that have had good results. As stated before just watch the pectins. Probably wanna add it to secondary. Good luck.

Oatmeal Stout Samuel Smiths Oatmeal Stout

UPDATE: This was a huge hit at the party. Pours awesome with thick creamy head that laces well. As others had said though, the head dissipates quickly. A 1/2# of flaked barley would take care of that. It tastes of your standard stout, black coffee with a hint of vanilla and dark chocolate. The...

    New house new grill.....

We'll after much thought and wandering of aisles I've decided what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna pull the trigger on a decent gas grill and pick up one of the famed el cheapo Brinkman smokers. I think I'll have fun modding it anyways. Thanks for all the advice guys. A BGE was tempting but about...

    irish red 18%abv

With that much sugar its gonna taste like a$$ unless you age it for a very, very long time and even then i have my doubts. I never liked the taste of fermented corn sugar. I wouldn't waste the hops to dry hop it. Good luck though, its your brew and if that's your thing go for it. I think...

    New house new grill.....

Well with the purchase of my new home I retired my old gas grill that had served me faithfully for many years. Now I'm debating as what to get next and have decided that I want to do charcoal. I'll admit I grill mostly but would like the option of smoking occasionally. Unfortunately space is...

    Newbie stout questions

I never had good luck with any stouts until I went to partial mash and all grain. That being said I only tried about 3 extract stout batches. The difference has been unbelievable as far as mouthfeel and texture (IE smooth and silky). Good luck and don't give up hope. Have these been box kits you...

Oatmeal Stout Samuel Smiths Oatmeal Stout

Just kegged this after a month in primary. Only changes I did were I used about 3#'s 2-row and 5#'s marris otter, and fuggles for bittering. I only needed to toast my oats for about 25 mins to get the effect I wanted (burned the first batch). Mash and boil was 60 mins. Looking forward to this...

Grain Color: Get rid of the color, but keep the flavor?

You could try to filter the wort through activated carbon... you'd probably lose flavor as well though. A small bit of victory malt could give you what your looking for.

    Make a recommendation

I have 8#'s of Marris Otter, about 6oz cascade and 7 oz of fuggles. The LHBS isn't to far away so I can get some specialty grains quickly. What should I make? I already have an APA, Oatmeal Stout, and cider on tap. Thinking of an Irish red... Open to suggestions.

    1st brew tonight....Anxious

I remember my first time... It was a nice lil blonde. Just go with the flow, it will come naturally to you and turn out fine. If you try and over think it it will just ruin the magic you two are are going to share together. You'll be fine man... The beer will be good too.

    Flaked Barley went sour?????

So I had a 1/2# of flaked barley that has been lying around for about the last 5 months. It was kept in a ziplock bag and had no moisture present. Was planning on doing an oatmeal stout tomorrow and adding it to the mash. Opened the bag tonight and noticed a vinegar smell. The grain had no...
