Several people have expressed interest but decide to pass when they see the shipping costs. The quotes I'm getting to ship from Canada to the US are consistently coming in at around $15US (plus/minus a few bucks depending on location).

Well thanks. If either of you decide to do this mod I suggest trying to keep brass bits out of the orifice on the regulator when you're drilling and tapping. One idea is using petroleum jelly to plug the hole. It'll keep the shavings from going into the orifice and should be pretty easy to...

Thanks for the reply. Just to make sure I understand you correctly: in your experience the stir plate doesn't help when fermenting high gravity beers or meads. Can you elaborate? What did you brew? Was it a split batch? If so was there any difference between the two batches whatsoever...

I don't want to draw attention away from the shady/incompetent business practices of the guy developing these large stir plates but I do have a question: Has anyone done a split batch to compare a stir plate ferment VS regular ferment? I did a quick skim of this thread and I didn't see any...

I have yet to see one sized appropriately for home brewing at any price. Could be wrong though. Edit: Didn't notice your link before replying. That's pretty much what I was thinking. Probably still a bit large though.

How about designing/manufacturing a plate chiller that can be disassembled for cleaning. I'm sure this would be cost-prohibitive but if I had to pick 1 piece of equipment that doesn't currently exist that would be it.
