    Cane Sugar...? In a pinch

When I was bottling I exclusively used table sugar or brown sugar. Google tasty brew priming calculator and its will give you quantities for the various types of sugars to get the volumes of carbonate desire.

    Ball or Pin lock????

sort of.... height clearance issue? = Pin lock is best by a couple inches diameter clearance issue = ball lock barely wins out. cost wise, pin lock is cheaper initially. I don't see any price or availability issues with either (i have 8 pin lock, and 9 ball lock). hardest part is...

    New Keezer Question!

Is this a problem specifically with the Johnson temp controlers? My ranco temp probe has been floating in mid air for the past year+ and i've never had any issues? Don't miss-read me, I'm not questioning you... i've just never heard this before and don't wanna kill a perfectly good keezer.

    New Keezer Question!

One thing I've done (and others have as well) to combat the airt temp consistency issue is take an old computer fan and wire it into an old cell phone charger. Plug the charger into the temp controler (i used a 3way plug) I set this on up in a corner and it circulates air when the freezer is on...

    Homebrewtalk Carboy Cleaner Giveaway

Nothing pisses me off more than trying to scrub krausen residue out of the top of a Carboy with one of those dang brushes.... i've got them bent into all kinds of zig zags, and still doesn't always work (i've even tried a pressure washer spraying into the carboy...seriously). I'm on a super...

keg equipment taking delivery taking forever

I'd personally want some clear answers or else cancel the order. When i'm spending that kinda money, i want a little customer service. I've done all my orders over the phone with kegconnection.com and they are great.

    Sweetwater IPA Clone

    sweet cream ale

Brewed a cream Of 3 crops recently. Used 3 lbs of flaked maze and 1 lb of rice solids dry extract Brew went smoothly. Fermented as planed, kegged at 1.010. BUT it's very sweet tasting. Is this a result of the rice or corn (never used either of them before). The beer is great There are no...

Saving a beer that fermented hot?

If it was Belgian yeast you're gonna be great! I let a blonde on Notty go through a weeknqith no AC last summer and it got into the 80s and tasted like pure liquid sulfur. I'd say bottle it and see what happens

    Propane Burners

Bayou banjo burner. Ithink they are like 50 bucks at brewmasters warehouse with a stand. That's what I use for both my hot and boil kettle. Boils 10gal like a champ! I get easily 5 brews off a propane tank

Electric wiring for fans in a keezer

Forget walmart... Talk to any IT guy and he'll het you a fan from a fried computer, then go to goodwill and get. A DV charger for less than $1.50. Doing this and puttin a fan in my keezer was one of the best choices I've made since getting kegs.

    Home Depot Chest Freezers

+1. You should still be able to get out for 1/2 of retail cost with renting a truck and shooing craigslist list. It took 2 months but I got a 10 cu ft freezer and a digital temp controler for $140. Would have been over $400 new.

    Late hop addition recommendations

Yeah I typically drop my chiller in at 10 minutes left in the boil then hook it up and run it till my keggle is cool to the touch, transfer to primary, then pitch my yeast once my ferm-ometer (stick on thermometer on my primaries) reads in the 70s and pitch my yeast then. I'm actually planning...

    Late hop addition recommendations

I added the NB at the first sign of boil, and boiled them for 60 minutes, then added the Columbus/Tomahawk/Zeus/whatever name you choose at with 15 minutes remaining in the boil and for the record, the resulting beer was nowhere near a bass ale clone. It was about an 8% abv recipe, with hop...

Tell us what your first beer was

Carona. About 2 weeks before my 21st birthday. I hated it. New castle was next, not too bad... Then one night with a buddy we killed a suitcase of natty ice.

    IPA Critique

Looks good. I like Vienna in my IPAs.. actually usually use it as my base malt. Depending on the malt character you want maybe toss some C40L in there. Hop schedule looks good, maybe dryhop some cascade is you've got more. As far as yeast goes, I like US05 in IPAs simply due to the cleaner...
