    Another new guy

Hello, and Welcome. A first and very easy tip to follow is: Sanitation. Get yourself some Star-San or Iodophor BTF sanitizer and make up a sanitation bucket to soak brew implements in. Be sure to ask any questions you may have on brew day, and of course, let us know how it turns out. There is NO...

How do you guys move your carboys around?

Carboy handles. Never had an accident, knock on wood. And I carry em low. To each their own. Either way ya go, be careful, and happy brewing! Cheers!

    So who's brewing this weekend?

I should be able to put together my "Burn in Helles". A terrific beer and recipe, of my own creation. Neighborhood loves it... Now they're gonna have to make donations, as this is a keg that lasts far to little time! LOL!!!!

Harvest yeast from primary or secdonary?

+1 Rory. Get it from the primary!

Yeast cake...what to do with it?

OK---off topic!:off: Hey Postal Penguin, would you mind sharing the recipe for that Bourbon Vanilla Porter? You can pm me or post off topic here, but that sounds great and something I may like to try.:mug:

Yeast cake...what to do with it?

I agree with Mr. Penguin and put another beer on it. Try to do one that is somewhat close to the SRM of the previous beer. And no, you shall not need to add any more yeast. That slurry is packed with healthy yeast. I often time out my brew and rack time so that I can utilize the yeast as it is...

    Do bubbles equal carbonation?

What temp. are you carbonating at, and with what psi., and for how long? Is 12 psi your carbonation psi or for serving? I serve between 9-12psi. Sometimes after I force carbonate a beer it seems a bit foamy. So, since, when I have reached my target psi, I kill the gas to it, and release the...

    Excited about my Tripel

Seems like you have yourself a gem. You will really love yourself if you let at least a few of those bottles age out as our buddy mentioned. I am a bit of a Trappist/Abbey Belgian beer lover myself. A LOT can be learned by attempting these beers, as to get them right it takes attention to detail...

The Keg Fairy Paid Me a Visit

Heck yea, nice Man/brew cave! I'll have to get some pics o' mine and send em to ya. The highlight of my brew house furniture is a very heavy science class room table, complete with the stools. You know the ones that are made of a very hard, almost stone-like poly, that we couldn't burn or blow...

How do you guys move your carboys around?

Carboy handles. They're available at almost any reputable HMS for less than 10 bucks. Of course buckets are also an option, but may cost more initially. IDK, I don't brew in plastic. Not that there is anything wrong with it, just a matter of choice and the gear I started with. I just love...

    First AG, instant mistake, hurry!!!

I agree with Wierdboy and beowulf here in that you probably will have a higher FG and more body than anticipated, but continue the process as if nothing happened. Stay the course. Your beer should be fine, albeit not your best, but that's what first batches are for! Learning! You'll be ok...
