    Best lunch ever

Recently, a new beer bar opened near home... Uncle Mike's Pub Beer Selection - Over 450 Different Beers Not bad considering Miller Brewing is about half an hour north... But, on top of the fantastic beers they already had, and a killer bowl of chili for lunch, I just watched some...

A mead to be opened in 20 years time ... suggestions

Papazian just (well, a couple months ago) did an article on Gayre's old meads and included in the article was a recipe for brochet, which I jumped on right away. If you can't get it online, I'll try to dig up the back issue and post it.

    Your favorite Melomel

Honeydew mead 18# light honey (this batch came from a huge local grocery store that sells local wildflower at a decent price) seven over-ripe honeydew melons (EDIT: I'll be using about three more melons next time) water to five gallons narbonne yeast (3 quart starter) staggered yeast nutrient...

    Your favorite Melomel

Do yourself a favor and try a Honeydew melon mead. SWMBO insisted we try, and I'm happier with the results of this mead than any other we've done. If you do try it, over-ripe melons seem to work the best, and shoot for about one and a half melons per gallon, rounded up.

My JA(blood)Orange recipe: 10 pounds of blood oranges cut into eights and shoved into a carboy twelve pounds of wildflower honey two cloves one cinnamon stick water to five and one half gallons and a 2-quart starter of US-05. I did end up using a secondary, and topping up to five...

    Bulk honey?

Looking at buying a 60# bucket of honey at $2/pound, running a total of $120. I've tasted the honey recently, and it seems to be quality, but I'm wondering if it's a solid enough deal. Whatcha think? Cheers, Chuck

Where to put the real fruit? (not extract)

Secondary for beers, but I do all my meads with fruit in the primary.

    Fermentation has not started yet...?

Could be a bad seal on the bucket letting CO2 out through the gap between the lid seal and the bucket.

How long will 5 gallons of HB last at a party?

We had a Maibock vs. Maibock competition between myself and a buddy at my brother's a few years ago. The two of us each brought two cases of bottles, and it was all gone in two hours between ten people. I don't think anybody won, by the way.

Hello everyone! Doing my good deed for the year today...teaching my buddy Ed to brew on his birthday. We'll be making an Irish stout this afternoon, but I was wondering: Any tips on teaching someone to brew? We'll be doing a partial mash in a 2-gallon MLT, with a 90-minute mash. I...

    Stumbling in from Wisconsin

Hey everyone! Rolled in onto this website after googling for some plans to upgrade my MLT. As an afterthought, I figured it would be rude to swipe all the awesome info without introducing myself. Thanks for the MLT ideas Ninkasi, BTW. Name's Chuck, live just outside of Kenosha, WI and am...
