At those prices, it sounds like you gotta jump in a DeLorean traveling at 88mph to attend this event! :ban:

    Sierra Nevada Pale Ale "Hoppiness"

I somehow skipped over this post directed towards me. I have been wanting to go to Father's Office for some time because it's literally recommended to me on a monthly basis. Must be good stuff! I hear their burgers are really good too. I'm always given the usual "go when it's an off...

    Sierra Nevada Pale Ale "Hoppiness"

Man, this thread really makes me realize how much more beer there is out there to try! I definitely need to look outside of Ralphs :)

    Sierra Nevada Pale Ale "Hoppiness"

Where do you get a Stone out here anyway? I've never seen the majority of these beers listed... I'm assuming I won't find them at my local Ralphs or Albertsons.

    Sierra Nevada Pale Ale "Hoppiness"

Haha, I just answered a PM asking the same question. I'm in Marina del Rey, but I put SoCal cause I figured most people on these boards outside of Cali wouldn't know where that was. I guess I'll change my profile :) Which beer did you think was a mouthful of hops? The Sierra Nevada, or the...

    Sierra Nevada Pale Ale "Hoppiness"

Definitely, the replies you guys have given me have been very helpful. Since I don't really have any beer "connoisseur" friends, it's really hard for me to get to learn the intricacies of these new beers I'm tasting. I just had two SNPA's... and I really do love this stuff now! The...

    Sierra Nevada Pale Ale "Hoppiness"

I must admit, I love all beer, but have only tried Sierra Nevada in the recent months. Upon first impression, I thought the bitterness was a bit too much for me... but I gotta say I'm starting to like it. As reference for a newb like me... How would you guys rate Sierra Nevada's...

    Interesting experience at LHBS

I only made one trip to my LHBS so far, and they were really honest and helpful. If somebody talked to me like the story you just described, I'm pretty sure I'd never go back there again.

    The story of a noob...

Awesome, it's great hearing of success stories of a newb (like myself) since it'll still be at least 5 weeks until I taste my first batch...

Ceased Airlock Activity, but NO HYDROMETER AVAILABLE

Man, you're like HBT Ninjas! I post, grab a bite, come back and already have 3 helpful replies. Saves me a trip to the LHBS I guess. I'll definitely take your advice and just let time do its thing.

Ceased Airlock Activity, but NO HYDROMETER AVAILABLE

So yesterday I had some great airlock activity 10 hours after pitching yeast (see video here), but it 100% stopped several hours later (got a lot more vigorous than the video I posted, before stopping). The batch is a brown ale (liquid extract + specialty grain) with an 11gram Windsor dry yeast...

What are your low-cost homebrewery must-haves?

wow this is a really helpful thread for a newbie like me. I don't think the wifey will appreciate the fact you guys just added like four things to my brewing shopping list though :)

My First Brew - Airlock Bubbling, woohoo!

haha, the fermenter's in a closet and my light in there is really dim so the lighting was terrible when I first uploaded it to youtube. So I added the flashlight the second time around to actually see it better :)

My First Brew - Airlock Bubbling, woohoo!

Haha, heck yeah Airlock's rule! In the video it's bubbling about every 2 secs, but it's now bubbling every second... crazy! I hope this thing doesn't blow!

My First Brew - Airlock Bubbling, woohoo!

Yeah, went well for my first brew day I guess. We'll see how the beer TASTES in a few weeks! Airlock activity is DEFINITELY exciting, especially cause I don't have a hydrometer right now :) Random question (that I couldn't find an answer to while searching) - does boiling hops usually smell...

Just read the blog... that was great!

My First Brew - Airlock Bubbling, woohoo!

My brother and I brewed our first batch last night, a "Brown Derby Ale" Newcastle-ish beer, and it was a blast. I didn't realize how much I learned from reading this forum the past couple weeks until I was teaching him all the steps involved. Thanks for all the help! Unfortunately, my...

    Swing tops.

Anybody seen this brand in Southern California? It looks familiar to me, but I'm not really sure if I've seen it before.
