Anvil Foundry Lid seal - falls off

I have an Anvil Foundry electric system. I've brewed 4 batches so far. On the last batch the lid seal fell out when the the kettle was heating up to a boil. I leave the lid half on during the boil since at 110 I don't get a rolling boil. The steam and/or heat must have expanded the silicone...

Homebrewer applying for part time Brewery Beertender - resume?

thanks again everyone for the replies and input. The base wage at this second brewery is less than half of the brewery I currently work at, so in the end I'll stay where I'm at.

Homebrewer applying for part time Brewery Beertender - resume?

Thanks for the reply! This does help put some things in perspective, both money wise and pointing out that this is a part-time replaceable position. I do think the current job will understand as they just had another employee leave because having no days off ended up being an issue.

Homebrewer applying for part time Brewery Beertender - resume?

Good points - thanks for the replies. First and foremost it's a means to get extra cash. I figured if it could be in the beer industry and fit my schedule that's an added bonus. Right now I have no spare time so it doesn't help that I'm driving extra (and spending more on gas). Good point on...

Homebrewer applying for part time Brewery Beertender - resume?

So I've been working at this brewery for about 5 weeks. Minimal training as it got busy right after I started - no big deal as it's not hard to pour/restock etc. When I applied back in January I applied to 4 breweries. 2 responded - one being where I'm at now, the other said it's the slow...

Homebrewer applying for part time Brewery Beertender - resume?

Thanks again for the replies! I've taken all of this advice and incorporated it into my resume and cover letter. I applied to 2 "Open" positions and just communicated with 2 more breweries. Two have replied that it's slow season - one from an ad and one I solicited. We'll see what the other...

Homebrewer applying for part time Brewery Beertender - resume?

Thanks - most have the classifieds for beertender say homebrewing is a plus. Some require the first Cicerone Cert and some don't. One of the positions I'm applying for says they will pay for the Cicerone Cert in the first 90 days of employment. I do have a resume as I've been in IT for 30...

Homebrewer applying for part time Brewery Beertender - resume?

Hi, I've been looking for a part time job to help cover some debt. There are a couple of local Craft breweries hiring Beertenders. Outside of homebrewing I don't have any experience. These job listings say submit resume and cover letter. I have very little to put on a resume as far as...

Looking for Cider Donut hard cider recipe

Hi, I'm an experienced beer brewer. I've just started trying to make cider. I just did a mango cider that came out pretty good. Quite a few members of my family really like the Downeast Cider Donut cider I'm thinking to back sweeten with cider, cinnamon and sugar. Does anyone have a...

Filled Homebrew kegs - Storing and temp fluctuations

I have a small chest freezer and most of the time I keep the temp at 38F. Question 1 - If I have a keg of beer in the freezer at 38F and want to raise the temperature to 50F either to soft crash a beer in a fermenter or to ferment a lager, will this hurt the beer that is already kegged in the...

NEIPA/Hazy brew overly bitter - undrinkable

Apologies for misreading some of the posts. When I say I brew 2.5 gallons - that is the ending volume. I start around 4 gallons. The times I've used distilled water I was using a mineral packet that came with the recipe. The rest of the time I use home filtered water - I've sent this out for...
