Venting cask ale with a cork in place of a soft spile

I am not sure how many brewers here brew cask ale. I small batch BIAB brew and have made it my mission for 2022 to nail a cask ale best bitter. I have my first Best Bitter in a 5 litre minikeg/cask, the party keg variety. Now when brewing real ale and casking it, venting is one of the steps...

    Cold conditioning ale temperature

Very useful! No idea on the yeast as it’s the first time I have used it. West Yorkshire is what I used. Between whirfloc, a quick post boil chill and dropping the temp for a couple of days after primary it looks pretty clear. Temp is controlled well. And I primed using a calculator. So fingers...

Carbonation calculations at 12C - not sure I understand

That’s interesting. I open fermented the first 3 days and then closed the lid for the last 4 days. So perhaps the open ferment will result in a lower CO2 volume?

Carbonation calculations at 12C - not sure I understand

It’s what the brewing app gives as the figure. I brewed at between a low of 18C and high of 20C.

Carbonation calculations at 12C - not sure I understand

I have a best bitter that has reached FG fermenting at 18C. I want to cask it and condition it at 12C adding some sugar for priming. The CO2 in the beer is around 0.8-0.9 volumes after primary. When I put 12C as the new beer temperature the calculator then says the beer doesn't need sugar and...

    Cold conditioning ale temperature

quick question. looking to cask a small batch best bitter. Assuming it has reached FG do I need to do secondary fermentation at 18°C plus or will it carbonate with primer in the cask at 12°C (cellar temp)? Trying to work out if secondary fermentation and conditiowning need to be two separate...

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

I would be interested in that! Currently only brewing 1 gallon BIABs because it allows me to brew more frequently.

2 litre glass demijohn for carbonating an ale

Hi, Currently about to put a 4 litre small batch ale into primary in a 2x 2 litres glass demijohns. Can the same types of bottles also be used as the conditioning/carbonation bottles for a low volume carbonation say somewhere around 1.5 vol of CO2 using their screw caps? Can the bottles...
