New-ish Budweiser 1933 Repeal Reserve Amber Lager

Yeah it wasn't anything mind blowing, but at least not more of the same kind of typical swill like Bud, Bud Light, Bud Platinum etc. It has some character for a change. Which sadly means it will probably be a sales failure - lol.

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

I didn't get the kind of vigorous fermentation that I had expected with this beer. Should I pitch more yeast or just wait it out? It's been 5 days. I can see a small krausen ring formed at the top of the LBK, but I don't see much in the way of bubbles in the brew. I don't know if I accidently...

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

I happened to find a more current instructions set for their brew. It seems that the instructions you receive are dependent on the tier of the set you buy. There are standard, deluxe, and craft kits. Since mine is the craft level ingredients kit it says to ferment for 3 weeks. So it looks like...

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

Using the water as a sort of temperature buffer? That's not a bad idea. Looks like it would work. All I know is if I get another fermenter or 3, they've got to be amber or clear so I can take a look at what's going on in there.

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

I'm in a similar boat. I did a batch of someones apple wine on here the greater part of a decade ago. Time flies. Now this Mr. Beer kit. I just looked at it with a light a little bit ago and it's bubbling away in there so that's good! I have zero idea what my fermentation temps are looking...

New-ish Budweiser 1933 Repeal Reserve Amber Lager

Anybody tried it? Saw it at Circle-K gas station. It's kinda pricey for a Bud product, around $8.99. I tried it and liked it. It's not bad. Good Amber Lager, supposedly what their beer used to be before prohibition. It has some dark malty notes and just a smidgen of hops. The beer is 6.1% alc...

    First Non Kit Brew

I was thinking about recipes that I could make using the Mr. Beer LBK and I decided on this. I'm shooting for something along the lines of the now defunct Budweiser American Ale. That was my favorite beer when it was still sold, so I'd like to try to recreate it. It was an amber ale with a nice...

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

Well I got the new fermentor in yesterday and tested it out, no leaks! So I'm in business. Today (about 20 mins ago) I finished 'brewing' the Oktoberfest. I'm just going to follow the generic Mr. Beer instructions and treat it like an ale. I had a couple questions though. How do you guys get all...

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

Yeah it says Oktoberfest on the can and Lager below it. Came with no instructions except the generic ones that come with the whole Mr. Beer kit, so I don't know what to do with it. I got a spare dorm refrigerator that would be fine for it. I guess I have at least a week to decide how I'm going...

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

Wow this thread is 10 years old and still rolling. That's truly amazing. Anyway I'm a bit confused and could use a little help. I got a Mr. Beer kit for Xmas this year. It came with the Oktoberfest Lager. I have done a fair amount of reading on these forums over the years and I know the...

    Losing Carbonation

So is it just not as noticible because it's subdued by the cold? That is what I'm thinking. I turned down the Refrigerator from Arctic to Cold Ohio night. lol

    Losing Carbonation

Hey there. Recently when I've been buying 12 packs and such and bring them home. I place them in my mini fridge. When I drink a couple the first night, their perfectly carbonated ( High Life). But then the next day I notice their much colder than the day before and not nearly as carbonated. I...

    Best first kit

Interesting. Thank you! I'm still learning before I put a chunk of change down into this. Brewing my own seems so exciting, i'm just not very patient. And recently i've gone overboard with my drinking! lol. I've been drinking a 6er every couple nights or so. Had a 6er of Warsteiner tonight...

Okay question time. Can I use the 'bottling bucket' as a short term secondary?

    Best first kit

Okay I've finally decided on what I want to brew. You recall I wanted to brew a Highish ABV beer Porter style seems to be the answer I want to brew a 6.0%+ Porter! I'm inspired by this 12 pack of Labatt "heritage series' I got yesterday. The porter is DELICIOUS! And I poured it into a...

    Best first kit

Thanks so much for all the replies! It's nice to have such an active forum! Heres the thing, the high ABV is just one of the types i'm shooting for. One thing I hadn't noticed mentioned here very much (im new so sorry if I'm way off) but I wanted to try icebrewing and see how much better a...

    Best first kit

Hi guys! I'm Jamie. I would like to know what the best kit is for a beginner? I have seen Mr. Beer and honestly would rather take the time to do a 5 or 6.5g brew. I would like to do large brews but I don't understand some things like carboys for instance. Do they actually come with the...
