    Sparkolloid Question

    Have some hard lemonade on and its clearing via Sparkolloid. The stuff has cleared well but the bottom is suspended in a jellyfish looking mass. http://www.universe.bookerb.com/sparkolloid.jpg Can this be avoided or will it settle out on its own? Thanks.

    Skeeter Pee yeast starter

    Can anyone recommend a best practice to get a yeast starter going. I read to just use some of the must to get a starter going, but should it be a little lower in acid content? Anyone have a step by step? Thanks.

    Bad day today...

    Got home from work and had a peek...red wine primary was leaking from the bottom! Had to dump it fast into another one. Then I went into my crawlspace to check my last beer that I bottled. Bottles were LESS firm than when I bottled. Wtf. Opened on up...BLECH...infection I think. Got...

    Clearing question

    Made 2 kits for a buddy...problem is I think I might have mixed up the chemicals (chitosan vs isinglass) Both were pinots...one red, one white. Is this a problem? White seems cloudy still after a few days.

    Vinator + beer bottles.

    I have a Vinator and sanitize my bottles with it. The neck is wider than the wine bottles so it slips past the stops. I made a washer and put that on there as a platform. What do other people do?

    The kits I do call for an airlock. How many people use an airlock for the primary and how important is it really?

    First glass...

    Australian pilsner kit...my first one ever. Beer has been bottled 2 weeks. Couldn't resist but to chill and crack one. Tasted like satans anus when I bottled it, but now its much much better. Another week or 2 and it should be great. Lots of carbonation already.

    Weak kit..

    Just had a taste of my Riesling after doing a hydrometer reading. I read on here that kits tend to be weak...can this be from the 'topping up' the directions ask you to do? How does one attain a higher % while brewing from kits.

    Making wine while drinking..wine.

    Hydrometer 1.010...check Equipment sanitized...check Add the packages as per directions...check Did I remember to siphon it to secondary first and leave sediment? Hells no! Don't drink and wine. (ok do...but don't be me)

    First timer question.

    I just put on an extract kit...a Beer Makers Australian Pilsner. Instructions say at bottle time, to put a tsp of sugar in each 750ml bottle. My father has been doing it for years and put the sugar in the whole batch before bottling. Any feelings on this? Thanks.
