    Appearance of a wild beer?

About a month ago I pitched the WY Lambic blend on a partially fermented beer. So far I have no visual evidence of the dosing. Should I be seeing anything on this beer? A pellicle, etc.? EDIT: There is an odor to it but it is kind of hard to distinguish because of the co2 bite when I sniff.

    2009 Christmas present thread

I am getting a Barley Crusher Mill, a keggle, and a new 2l Flask. It is a very good year.

    Beer is like Sex . . .

Before I start drinking I often have grand aspirations to drink all night long but I'm usually done after one or two short ones.

Who wants a to split a Flask order in Philly area

I am looking to buy a 2 liter flask. I found an online place with ~$15 2 liter flasks but the minimum order is $25. Figure around $20 to Philly. OR I WTB a 2 liter flask for $20 or less delivered to me.

It is just a bad accident when your ass ends up on the front of your body.

    Lambic blend starter question

I have a starter going that I made from the WY Lambic Blend. It has been 33 hours and I'm really seeing no sign of nothing No bubbles being released, no foam at all even after I stopper and shake it. It just looks like dirty wort. Is this normal? or Should I be expecting the same kind of...

Anyone else annoyed by Rollover ads?

I can has cheeseburger is one of my favorite sites to follow. A few months ago all of their ads became those frickin' annoying things where when you mouse just touches any part of the ad it pops up. I hate that. Last night I did a google search on how to get rid of them. Turns out both...

    Cheap fermenting containers?

I am about to begin the process of brewing a lambic. I was planning to do a framboise but now I think I will do half Kriek and 1/2 framboise. What I am wondering is if there is an acceptable but cheap 3 gallon fermenting vessel. My local HBS has better bottles for $25. Seems too pricey for me...

If I had known I was in a fashion show at Walmart . . .

I would not have been sporting the assless chaps http://www.peopleofwalmart.com/ Fess up, any of you get caught in one of these candids?

    Vienna SMaSH Hop choice?

Hallertauer or Styrian Goldings. Just a choice between these two. I have a ton of all three items and need to start using them up. Also, I was thinking about toasting some of the malt and perhaps crystalizing some as well since I make my own roasted and crystal malts. What do you think? Is...

I have to admit that I kind of like the Bud Light . . .

Foozie. You know, that combo coozie and foam "#1" hand I also like the Grooler. The beer sucks of course.

Have you ever lost a batch?

I think I may have lost a batch of beer. If so this is the first time it has ever happened. I see people starting threads all the time worrying about whether they will lose a particular batch but I don't remember seeing this exact issue. So for background: Last last October 5th I bottled a...

    Stout or "Creamer" faucet

I am making a move to getting set up with stout serving capability. I am trying to do this as inexpensively as possible since I don't drink all that much stout. Question: What is the difference between a standard stout faucet and a creamer faucet besides the long spout? Is the long spout...

Nitrogen with Small CO2 keg charger?

So I am dying to add nitrogen charging capability to my keg system but there is no way I can swing or even justify the expense on a full regulator tank setup for nitrogen or beer gas. I've seen a couple of mentions of the Handheld keg charger for cornies and the possibility of using a 16 g...

    Making Crystal Malt

I am buying a few sacks of malt this week and have decided that I am going to try my hand at making a nice range of specialty malts. Ranging from toasted (very easy) to a variety of crystals. I have the standard methods as described by Radical Beers and How to Brew for making these malts. I...

Did you ever get a strong urge to check each of your beers?

On a sunny Monday morning, by pulling a pint of all 9 kegs and carefully tasting the contents. Followed by a sample of each bottled batch. Just to make sure that everything is all right of course. While SWMBO is slaving away at work. This is kind of where I'm at today. Those taps are...

Campden tablet or sulfites to forestall bacterial infection?

I have a Pumpkin ale in secondary right now. When I was racking I decided I wanted to spice up the brew a little so I just added a teaspoon of Pumpkin Pie spice on top of the beer. Yea, I know, make a tea first, shoulda, would if I could go back, but what's done is done. So its been a week...

    I have reached Beervana

I am sitting here late on a Sunday night, wife's gone to bed. I am sipping on a beer that amazes me in its simple yet perfect flavor and I am realizing just how happy I am, not only with life, but with the (enormous now) investment of time and money that I have put into my beer hobby. I...
