    Todays plan

5 lb pork butt has been on for an hour, ribs and chicken going on 15 minutes, mostly cherry wood but some hickory in there too. And cheap American lagers all afternoon at the pool! Will post pics later....

    Dinner last night

Used my smoker for the first time (a free electric brinkman). Loaded up with cherry from an old tree, threw on some ribs, a chicken and later, some atomic buffalo turds. I used an old towel and threw it around the smoker and kept it wet to seal the gaps (I need to find some stove rope)...

rdwhahb and use the search function

Just a quick note. Bottled my Kolsch (WLP 029) tonight, had lots of floating "stuff" that I assumed was yeast, but since I haven't had an infection yet I'm not sure what I would expect to see... That being said, I was still worried, since this batch smelled different (I haven't done a...

Wii: Rock Band or Guitar Hero

Hi there, I tried searching, and have tried to piece together info all over the web, but everything I read seems to be 12 yo kid fanboys.... Here's my deal... I'm 33, 3 kids, 5 and 4 yo boys, 5 month old baby girl (sweetest thing ever btw). So I really am just looking for overall opinions...

adding water to a rolling boil

Ok, question for the AG guru's. My last batch called for a 90 minute boil which I had not done yet. My first two AG's were 60 minute boils done on very cold, but humid days. I boiled off a little over a gallon on each of the 60 minute boils, so I decided to collect about 7.5 gallons of...

    first ag, lovin it...

Just did my first ag batch today in a converted cooler I did myself. I ended up doing an ESB that I figured would go over well with family and friends. Here is my best guess at the ingreds: Amount Item Type % or IBU 8.00 lb Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM) Grain 85.74 % 0.50 lb...

    Catastrophe

Ok, I could cry. I set up to bottle my Celebration clone last night, was sanitizing everything, my hydrometer slipped out of my hands and shattered... thought to myself, bummer, but it could have been worse. Transfered my beer from primary to bottling bucket, began filling the bottles...

might switch to AG, check out my rig?

So, I've been trying to figure out if I should switch to All grain, read through all of the Stovetop AG threads (awesome btw!). So I had an equipment epiphany at work today when flipping throw Papazian's book regarding the Zapapap (sp?) and reading the threads on here.... I happen to...

a big thank you to the forum

So I tasted my first home batch tonight. I've done a brew on premise batch from a lhbs, and it was an amazing belgian tripel, but I wanted to try smaller for my first homebrew. I brewed exactly one month ago, left it in the primary for two weeks, bottle conditioned for two weeks and...

    first batch was Friday night

Ok, just figured I'd post... I started a few weeks back with a Mr. Beer, turned out terrible. So I figured I'd jump right into the real homebrew. I did however mix up some Apfelwein directly onto the Mr Beer yeast cake and its doing very well. So, I picked up a kit (fermenting bucket...
