The Brew Bag vs. paint strainer bag efficiency

I recently switched from using Home Depot paint strainer bags to The Brew Bag, and noticed a few percentage points drop in efficiency for the same amount of (light) bag squeeze. The Brew Bag has a much finer mesh than the paint strainer bag, and I’m wondering if this is somehow the issue. Has...

"Homebrew twang" despite controlled fermentation and yeast starter

No, no salts. I just wanted to see if I could get a decent beer going first before moving up to water chemistry.

"Homebrew twang" despite controlled fermentation and yeast starter

I noticed the twang in my first few extract brews as well. I switched completely to full all-grain (BIAB), and still notice it. I think I can only attribute it to the beer being young and "green", but I don't understand how others can ferment for 10 days, go straight to keg, and have no problems...

"Homebrew twang" despite controlled fermentation and yeast starter

Hi guys. I just recently brewed an all-grain version of the homebrewtalk Zombie Dust clone and am noticing the same old "homebrew twang" that all of my other beers have had so far. I'm a little discouraged as I bought a new thick-bottomed kettle, a mini fridge/inkbird for controlling...

Getting rid of the constant “green” home brew taste

I haven't added anything to the distilled water yet, just used it as-is. You definitely could, but I just wanted to try brewing with a totally clean water profile and it seemed to help.

Getting rid of the constant “green” home brew taste

Hey guys, newish to brewing (maybe 10 small batches in) and just came to a realization that I thought might help others. Up until my last two brews, every single one of my beers, both extract and all grain, had distinct “green” off flavors that would never go away even after many weeks of bottle...

    Extremely Astringent BIAB IPA

Hi guys. I'm fairly new to home brewing, but have done a few 5 gallon extract batches. All were extract kits from northern brewer, fermented at room temp of ~70 F. They all turned out pretty decent. I recently wanted to try making the switch to all-grain by trying a couple 1 gallon BIAB IPAs...
