All American Master Can Sealer- Canning Homebrew

Hey Everty, Good videos, I'm considering the same model for the same reasons you mentioned. Can you give some honest feedback now that you've had the canner for some time? Is it as useful as you expected? Would you have gotten the flywheel or motorized? If I can get a brew-club member or three...

Anyone from PA getting in on this? I'm in Chester County, willing to chip in gas money if someone is already making the trip to pick up. - Mike

    Ideas for brewery name

Ringneck is already taken - it's the production brewery of a Brew-On-Premises operation near Cleveland OH called The Brew Kettle. The Brew Kettle - The Ringneck Brewing Company I've brewed there - great operation. They have an excellent brewery-sponsored golf outing every August with lots...

    The Oxynater

+1 for not boiling every time - I did the first time out of the package and now I just soak it in starsan, and give a quick shot of o2 when I'm done to blow out the wort. Question for the group: I notice when I turn the regulator dial of the Oxynator, nothing comes out until it is nearly...

    bottled O2 questions

+1 for the Lowes/Home Depot BernzO oxygen bottles. <$8 per bottle in my area.

What are some of the mistakes you made...where your beer still turned out great!

IMMERSION CHILLER SPRAYED HOSE WATER IN MY WORT! A classic chiller malfunction - I had my garden hose laying in the garden with no sprayer on the end, and when I connected the hose to my immersion chiller input connection, medium-sized pieces of mulch entered the tube. Once I turned on the...

Looking for a kit to match Dundee Original Honey Brown Lager

In my personal opinion, Northern Brewer's Honey Brown kit is a huge crowd pleaser and only slightly heavier than Dundee's. Mine was done with 1 week in primary, 1 week in secondary and 1 week kegged in the fridge under carbonation....

    Specialty Grain Question

I following this procedure from Palmer's book... How to Brew - By John Palmer - Example Batch Procedure: The procedure is identical to that for extract brewing. However, the specialty grains will be steeped in the pot before the extract is added. The 3 gallons of water in the boiling...

    Sanitizing/Cleaning my new Oxynator

I'll throw a small saucepan on the stove for the last 15 mins of my wort boil... I'm assuming the little clip that came with it is for the stone end of the tubing. Do you attach the stone and then dip in starsan to cover the outside of the O2 tube?

    Sanitizing/Cleaning my new Oxynator

No, boily is easy of course. But why would I boil anything if I don't have to. I have a bucket of StarSan on hand from sanitizing my carboy during the wort boil, I would rather just dip the stone and tube in the StarSan.

    Sanitizing/Cleaning my new Oxynator

Brewers, I received an Oxynator oxygen system for XMas (Thanks to my supportive better half!). The instructions say to boil the stone for 15 mins, but I like to keep things simple and am thinking of soaking the tube attached to the stone in my StarSan bucket before dropping it in my filled...

Cheapest route to 10 gallon all grain?

Here's the Counter-Flow Chiller (CFC) tutorial link: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/counterflow-chiller-tutorial-51793/ I just got done reading it (nice work Bobby). Partway through, there is a link to purchase one pre-made for about $70 if you are not handy with copper cutting and...

    Good Steeping Idea!

1 hour sounds excessive. I steep for 15 minutes, 30 tops. I imagine the extracting curve greatly flattens after 30 minutes. I personally don't mind checking the temp of my steep water every five minutes.

Aging beer: Facts, myths, and discussion

Do I really need a gallon of yeast? I have just been using just the WYeast activator packs of liquid yeast, and only experienced attenuation problems on my beers higher than 1.060. I have looked at the yeast starter kits that include either a 1 or 2 liter flask with a small package of DME. Is...

    Ice bath vs Submersion chiller

Wilsonbrewer, Thanks - probably being overly paranoid, but reading about how much sanitation and cleaning is important, I bet you can see why... Maybe I'm being too greedy - is a full 5-gallon boil chilling time supposed to be under X minutes for a good cold break? My process with the IC...

    Ice bath vs Submersion chiller

The bottom of the pot doesn't reach the funnel/carboy, but when I tip the pot, any liquid from the sides would run towards the top lip. I'll try it with holding the pot with a towel and keeping it as level as possible when I get to the end of the pour. Anyone else with experience pouring...
