For Sale Central WI -- Selling my complete whole grain brewing and kegging setup $300

The brewing setup is pretty much everything you would need to get up and running with a full all-grain brewing setup. It's not as fancy as some of the kits you see here, but I brewed several times a month for several years just fine with this setup, so it's definitely enough. Everything is...

    CO2 regulator leaking

I have an old CO2 tank (1989 marked on the tank) with an old regulator in my kegging setup. I noticed that it's leaking out of the regulator. There is a hole drilled in the part that holds the screw you use to set the PSI, and it leaks out of that hole (sometimes). I'm wondering if maybe...

Fishing reel tap handle too heavy?

I'm going to be building my freezer/kegerator in the near future and I had an idea for a tap handle. I have a really old trolling rod with one of those old, big saltwater reels on it (see http://thumbs1.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/mgrpH-6uyjt2IQ8DC9yzAHA.jpg) I was toying with the idea of using...

    My Hop Garden

I've broke ground on my hop garden, and it seems to be going really well, so I figured I'd make a thread about it with pictures for you all. I am going to be planting four varieties (Saaz, Tettnanger, Willamette, and Centennial). I decided to go with a range of difficult and easy growers. I...

    Rhizomes after second year?

My dad has cascade, centennial, columbus hops that will be on their third year this year. They all grew pretty well last year, with strong yields. I am building a hop garden and was hoping to plant two rhizomes from one of these varieties (haven't decided which yet) along with the 3 other...

    My trellis plan

I am going to be growing hops this year. I am planning on growing 8 hop plants. My house is the standard 1950's prebuilt ranch house that they deliver with two big flatbed trucks, and the end that faces south is the short side, about 24 feet wide. My plan is to make a long, skinny hop...

    BrewHunter Search Feature

Hey everyone, I heard a lot of you all asking for a good website where you can search for recipes based on ingredients, so I wrote it into whobrew.com Click Here. There's really two ways to approach this kind of search-- one is that you want to find a recipe you can brew with just the...

    What's up with these kegs?

I'm looking at getting some new cornies and found these: http://www.beveragefactory.com/draftbeer/home_brew/kegs/hansen_usedkeg4.html When you look at the picture of the corny keg's lid, the pressure release valve looks weird to me. The ones I have look like this: What is the difference?

    Mashing in a stock pot?

Does anybody here do it? I usually use a picnic cooler, but I am looking to do step mashing and I think it might be easier to mash in my pot and use my stove to handle the temps. has anyone tried this? any insight on whether or not I could mash 10 lb of grain in a 20 qt stock pot?

How much grain can you fit in a 6 gallon bucket?

Simple question. Looking to get bulk grain and a maltmill and I'm trying to figure out how to store the grain in my apartment. I figure someone here stores grain in ale pale type buckets. About how many pounds fit? Also, does a bunch of grain around the house smell a lot (SWMBO)? I know...

    milled grain life

I got the grain for a beer last week sometime intending to brew this past weekend, but it never happened. Do you think it will last until sunday? I milled it at the LHBS and then put the grain in an ale pail and put the lid on it (does have the hole for the airlock in it) and then just stuck...

    Temperature Controller

Hey, Winter weather is perfect for fermenting ales for me because my apartment can get lower than 70. However, since I live in an upper apartment, summer makes it pretty impossible. I have a spare fridge and was hoping to get a temperature controller for it so i can control the fermentation...

Input on the primary vs secondary debate

Don't mean to spark up the debate, and the truth is I haven't decided how I feel about it. Just figured I'd contribute this because it is sort of unique. I brewed an oktoberfest last may and then decided to take a 3 month break from brewing for work and fishing. I would see it in the beer...

    Burner not fully igniting

I brewed tonight. I have an SQ-10 or SQ-14 (Don't remember) burner. It seemed like I had to crank it harder to get it to boil than I usually do, but didn't think much of it, until I was done, and yanked the kettle off of the burner. Only the right half was lit up! I cranked it wide open and...

    Secondary - CO2

I'm doing a secondary with an ale I just brewed, mainly so I can use the yeast cake. Actually, I will just be racking it into a corny, probably. However, my CO2 tank is empty and I can't get it refilled in time. I'm concerned about oxygenation. You think it having 3 or 4 days of O2 headspace...

    Empty Tank?

My kegerator setup is outside in my detached garage. I live in Wisconsin, so, now that it is winter, I am unable to keg because it will freeze out there. I left my empty kegs and my 5# CO2 tank in the fridge out there. Well I usually don't secondary but I'm doing a dry hop recipe so I...

So, if CO2 really does sink below oxygen...

...wouldn't the CO2 in the atmosphere float to the ground and we'd all suffocate?

    Competitions?

I've finally perfected a recipe for an IPA. I'd really like to have a "professional" opinion. But I'm not aware of any competitions in the WI area in the near future-- I'd figure it'd mellow out by the time spring comes along. Anybody have any recommendations?
